Where Are They Now?

I've actually been doing some sneaky BB Housemate Facebook stalking lately, so here's something I came across a couple weeks ago.

Dean from BB05 got married last October. Interestingly, he actually ended up marrying Emma, who is the same girl he met just prior to entering the house in 2005 and whose relationship nearly cost him his place in the Big Brother house when he lied about not being single upon entering.

Personally, I think it's lovely that they remained together after so long. Dean always said in the house that, no matter what, he knew there was something special about Emma and he was always committed to her right throughout his time in the house - even when Gretel and Co continued to make jibes about him and his relationship right to the end.

^ This guy was right up there with the biggest bullies in BBAU history, some would say the biggest. That's about all I remember about him, regularly picking on nerdy Tim for his own amusement and just being an arsehat in general. Hope for his sake that he's matured and become a better person since his BB days. :pompus:

This is surprising coming from such a vocal Glenn fan!

I think Dean did show moments of maturity during his time in the house - his argument against Rachael as to why he wasn't open to "having a bit of fun" showed a great deal of courage and commitment to his girlfriend (now wife).

But ya, I agree that he came across really douchey and irrational at quite a few times (or maybe it was just the articulation of the people he'd argue against). For example, Tim did a brilliant job of covering his own ass over his "furthering" of the phantom kanga thing when Dean called him out on it.

While we're on the topic, Dean freaking out over the burger incident did provide some laughs.
 
In my humble opinion there's a world of difference between a young impressionable horny country lad experiencing his first taste of city life and thereby up-for-anything city girls (ok some would just call Shearer a sleazebag) and a bonafide bully like Dean who undoubtedly deliberately set out to hurt people and just did not give a f^ck.

For mine Glenn was just going through a phase that most hetero guys have to go through, sowing his wild oats and all that jazz and the BB house proved to be a box of chocolates to tempting to resist. Once that was out of his system though, I'm sure he became an upstanding exemplary young man. As they say don't hate the playa, hate the game. ;)

Far from it, mate.

Also, emphasis on your words "that's all I remember".

If you actually were open to revisiting old episodes, which we all know you're not, and considering you're basing your opinion on your memory of something that's now nearly 10 years old, you'd recall that while, yes, Dean absolutely did have a nasty streak, he was so not a bully. Well-spoken, outspoken and very confident in his views, sure, but he always gave others the benefit of the doubt.

His sidekick in the house, however, Logan David was a completely different story - he was extremely rude and a very cruel person.

But Dean, in my opinion, while arrogant, actually had a heart. Definitely not "one of the biggest bullies in BBAU history".

Anyway.

Not even going back into the Glenn topic with you again either btw.

Well well well wonders never cease to amaze me. Back in the day (2005) you'd be lucky to find 1 Dean fan among 1000 posters yet almost a decade later I'm out numbered 4:1 in glowing support of Dean. Who would have thunk it? lol

Arguing over the morality and severity of a sexually charged young man's actions/indiscretions with a conservative prudish blemish-free soul such as yourself is beyond pointless, I agree. ;)

I wouldn't call Tim nerdy, but Dean was extremely annoyed by Tim. He seemed to have a real issue with Tim enjoying attention and his personality in general, as well as Vesna (although you understand that ;)). He really shot himself in the foot by engaging Tim in an argument because despite his intelligence he couldn't really keep up with Tim in that respect. Although he did much better than Hotdogs.

I never supported him? I was just saying that hopefully (for the sake of those who deal with him every day) those few moments of maturity have become more common.

Geeky, dorky etc.. call him whatever you want but you have to admit that he exhibited some of the socially awkward mannerisms and personality traits common in individuals usually referred to as those labels I've mentioned.


People keep on claiming he was this 'intelligent' witty individual. I personally didn't see him to be much different from the pretentious blowhards who join uni student unions and the like (clearly I don't have a high opinion of these types), to each their own I guess.

I was referring to BBB members back in 2005 when I was lurker and hadn't signed up yet. You're supposedly a noob so I wasn't including you in that comment

Unless of course you were around back then under a different handle and have made new username/s like I have.

You said you were "outnumbered 4:1 in glowing support of Dean".

I was saying that I was never intending to come across as someone supporting him. I'm just saying that I hope he would have changed by now.

I don't think so. He was definitely unique and different from your run of the mill blokey bloke, but he did not seem to have any trouble in the house socially, other than the fact that Dean hated him. Most of them liked him and didn't seem to take issue with his supposed "awkward mannerisms". Other than the especially right wing members of the house.

Yeah, we clearly differ on that. Like you said, too each their own.
 
When I say 'socially awkward' I didn't mean that he couldn't communicate and get along with anybody in the house but that outside of the surreal BB environment I think many of the other hms wouldn't go out of their way to socialise with him because like me they probably found him a bit 'odd' for their tastes. But that could be just me projecting my own take on Tim onto them, who knows.

"Odd' - hmm, yes he stood out, articulate & intelligent, & gently charming, rare in the yobbo 10 years.
He became a pin up for thinking women :)
And he has been one of the most successful ex BBHMs in media careers, along with Chrissie Swan, and Blair.
He is a decent human being.
(oh and by the way Conn, students back then didn't 'join student unions" you paid compulsory fees and automatically became a union member).

Tim Brunero presents for both ABC TV and Radio. Working with Jane Hutcheon’s One Plus One program on ABC1 and News24 Tim asks the curly questions of everyone from our bravest warriors, to inspirational educators, to top spin doctors.

On ABC Local Radio Tim regularly presents the national Overnights show and works on other countrywide programming including Conversations with Richard Fidler, Tony Delroy’s Nightlife, and Sundays with James O’Loghlin. He also works on 702 ABC Sydney.

Tim came to TV and Radio from print and online. After working at The Daily Telegraph and The Australian he showed off his inner larrikin writing for The Chaser newspaper and later blogging weekly for The Chaser website, mixing both written and video content back when internet publishing was in its infancy.

Tim soon moved into TV hosting award winning ‘chat show on steroids’Dare I Ask? and the information packed Small Biz Central. He also travelled to East Timor to make documentary Hands Across The Waterand appeared weekly as a panellist on Channel 10’s Big Mouth.

After a foray into radio working at Sydney’s 2GB and 2SER Tim decided a move was in order.

He packed his tiny city car to the brim and set off from Sydney across the Hay plain to take up a position as breakfast presenter at Radio Adelaide. Soon he was presenting at the city’s top rating station 5AA.

After an action packed South Australian sojourn he returned to Sydney to take up his current position at the ABC.

That's right. Like paying rates for services like libraries and rec centres when you're a home owner.
