Long hot dry summers in australia CAN mean Bushfire year after year. It's a pretty big problem for us almost every year. Some years worse than others.

Probably wouldn't know about it.
A fire alarm went off in the BBUK compound this year, and the housemates were removed from the house. We only knew of it because a BB fan was in Elstree at the time and tweeted about it.

Seems like BB will start after the Commonwealth Games. Although this is on Channel 10, Channel 9 might wait until then. I reckon between the 10-24/8/14.
Yeah, and Steven mentioned it briefly when we were watching live footage during an eviction show I think.
To be honest I find it silly that they completely wrote it out of the "storyline" if you will, especially since they've documented evacuations before.
This happened a couple years ago:
Granted that was a much more serious and severe incident, but they could have at least mentioned something about the fire drill evacuation in this season's show.

Yeah, I remember that. And they blamed it on the house mates making balls from socks which ended up in the roof guttering. LOL.
There have been more cynical omissions, like that a celebrity house mate (Rylan) was leaving the house to do rehearsals for another show.

Brushfires rarely happen in the same place on successive years. The fuel for the fire comes from underbrush that has died off and accumulated over a number of years. Whenever you have a serious brushfire over a large area, the built-up fuel is burned off and it will usually take several years to build back up. If you have a large fire in successive years it is usually due to 1) arson, or 2) extremely dry conditions in remote areas. I can't see this happening this close to the coastal area where Dreamworld is.
They had a bombscare a couple of years earlier and didn't mention that, though granted I think that was on police advice - but considering it was all over every fansite and we had the live feeds in those days with HMs mentioning it they might aswell have put something in the highlights. Also had a bombscare in 2003 which they had no choice but to mention as it was on eviction night, with the HMs filmed throughout from being told about the evacuation (in person as the stuidio had already been evicted) through to them returning to the house.
Also highlights how much better the eviction shows were back then. No crowd in this instance due to the incident but back then everything was done from the studio (or camera runs) with the crowd only on site for the second show and eviction itself. Much preferred Davina talking to me, the viewer, rather than having to shout over a baying mob.

That would be horribly stupid scheduling by Ch 9. Most people aren't going to sit on one channel for 2+ hours of reality tv per night and for that segment of the population that ignores reality shows altogether, they'd be losing out on all those viewers for 6 weeks in primetime. They dropped Saturday Showdowns earlier than planned last year because of dismal ratings and didn't have BB on Sundays at all but now they're going to show it "at least 6 nights a week"? I hope you're right, including about the start date, but it makes zero sense business wise for any of the above to happen.

Better safe than sorry but seriously BB has never creeped this late into the year before, at Ch 10 it was always a first half of the year program so that obviously never came into consideration.
Bushfires are becoming more frequent and severe though (climate change, global warming etc...) and you can never be certain from year to year of the potential severity of a bushfire around any given area like the BB compound that has a lot of dry vegetation to burn.
You can flippantly dismiss it out of hand all you want but the severity of a bushfire could be on the extreme end of the scale that the BB compound can't be saved, what then?

I don't know where you're from but hundreds of people have died and communities/towns/properties destroyed because of bushfires in the last decade in Australia:

I'm flummoxed why expressing concern about something that should be common knowledge (and the real life dangers that come along with it) to most Australian citizens is causing such a derisive glib response. *shrugs*
Yeah it was only meant to be until the NRL started (4 weeks) but they changed it to the Thursday a week before originally planned "in response to viewer feedback" apparently.
