While I understand you POV, I kind of disagree with it...

..Based on experiences and convos I think that one common "right-wing" theme that the lesbian community struggles against is that being gay is in someone's nature...not something they stumbled into in sin...

A lot of lesbian community members would react to someone like Tully who was PORTRAYED as a lesbian (...admittedly said she was bisexual many times during the show..) but was generally portrayed as a LESBIAN...

The idea that a LESBIAN just switches over to liking a guy strengthens that "right-wing" position that a lesbian can be "turned straight" and hurts that community as a whole...

Obviously she would receive some backlash over that....

Obviously most of the posters here understand the nuances of her sexuality...but the GENERAL PUBLIC (aka 98% of the audience) doesn't...

...I've talked to several casual friends of the show and they are shocked when the LESBIAN suddenly falls for a GUY...

Aaaah I drove past the AWLQ twice this morning and didn't know they were going to be there. Might have had to swerve in there otherwise! I should keep up with the news shouldn't I??

i certainly understand what you are saying but that's why i think it won't endear tully to the LBGT community, like she is distancing herself from them now. Calling them "they" and having a go about them not being broad minded and accepting like "they" say they are instead having a bit of understanding about why.......i think she is cutting her connections and moving onto the next phase in her life by making those comments. She's not wanting to mend bridges but happy to leave it in her past, if that makes any sense.

Ok I'm giving the girl one last chance. I'm done with all the pics of Ed. I'm interested in her career prospects, not that douchbag. I don't give a flying fig who she's trying to marry, I'm not falling for the 'follow our showmance, it keeps us relevant bullcrap" she can be relevant and successful without him. Him, perhaps not so relevant without her. I'm a fan of her, not Jaded. And she hasn't got enough clout or success yet for this crap to be overlooked. IMHO - as always ;)

I agree with this.

I have refrained from commenting much on this or in fact really much on Tully at all to be honest, but the truth is Tully has received a lot of backlash. Tully was relatively known in the Sydney social scene prior to Big Brother, but within the wider lesbian community in Sydney she was actually very well known, I would say a lot of people knew who she was. I think it was the producers doing and not Tully's to really drum in the whole lesbian angle, but the reality is Tully was involved a lot in the gay community. But these days she is not regarded so highly.

Most people watching the show would've realised the true state of Tully's sexuality, but the producers really ran full force with the lesbian angle, so when she hooked up with Drew some people were less concerned about the fact she had a partner and more the fact that it was a guy. Basically, they feel that it has perpetuated the myth that sexuality is a choice, and that someone can be turned straight. Honestly it doesn't bother me that much and I certainly can't speak for every single member of the gay community, but that seems to be the consensus amongst people I have spoken with.

But that's not really anything that isn't said in that article, so this is a pretty pointless point actually.

What a disgraceful thing to say. I would delete the comment and block them. Shouldn't warrant a response at all. It's probably the worst comment I've ever seen.

On a lighter note, Tully's tongue looks very unattractive, seems she needs a cleaner diet. I don't want to have to retract my comments from last night stating she's displaying a new found class. Put it away girl!! Lol so gross.

the wearing stubbies shorts and bonds singlet was joke, and reference to The Block, and looking like a tradesman..overseas fans might not know but it's a house/apartment renovation type reality tv show with couples competing against each other..Caleb was keen to go on the show with Matt because of their BB bromance but had no success and Rohan and Drew was making fun of it. Drew met Bec and George the other day who were on this years The Block:)

Tully has been looking great lately, her hair looks so much better. However, the tongue out thing is a bad look especially on her ... Keep it classy Tully !!!! (I know she's just playing around but it doesn't look good)

That wasn't pointless at all; it was thoughtful and insightful. She definitely could have been much more understanding as quoted in that article, but it's just a really tough situation all around. On the one hand, it's completely understandable that the lesbian community would see it as something of a betrayal and a perpetuation of that ugly myth. And on the other, that myth is just a by-product of how the world unfortunately is, and not something for which Tully can be fairly held responsible. In other words, what happened shouldn't be any different than if a bisexual girl with a current male partner had fallen for a woman, but it is, and that's a shame. We all try to organise people by labels because that's what's easiest, but it pretty much sucks.

yes her hair looks so much better than that massive regrowth look she had while back..
I take the sticking out the tongue as joking around and it's 'funny' in the right situation/context.. going by her hashtag about miley in another photo with her twerking .
of course I love the smiley photos of the HM's and there are times they have to pose with a smile and not pulling faces, which seems to be popular these days.
Tully seems to be known for more edgier look with the way she dresses and looks etc ..I guess if some ppl want nice and sweetness they would follow the sugar sisters and Jade etc:)

This is, unfortunately, what some girls do.

At the end of the day she still did embarass her community a little bit by doing what she did on the show.
Just like Glen did in 05 (I actually think that guy would have been tore to shreds on twitter even more had it been around, he was heavily booed in his eviction and generally got just as difficult a time).

I'd say the backlash may have caused her to take a step back for a while, but I doubt she will cut off her ties entirely. She is bisexual, and there is every chance that she will end up back in a relationship with another woman at some point, her relationship with Tahlia is in the past, but not the fact that she is still attracted to women. And regardless of if she is gay or bi she is still a member of the wider LGBT community. Drew hasn't 'turned her straight' she has always been bisexual, she's quite open about it.
