Aww, Peter was so cute wasn't he, mm. Fine, fine actor - I adore everything he's ever done, but especially the Last Detective

What the hell are those bug hairy blob monsters - with rather handsome young men inside?

And Sarah Jane's round cheeks, I loved her 2nd time around not so much originally she seemed a bit prissy.

...lol!... those hairy blob monsters were 'yeti's' from memory... I can't recall the exact episodes though... a bit of feedback about Paul McGanns appearance in that mini-episode of his from this link...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/doctorwho/articles/The-Night-Of-The-Doctor-Excitement-Levels-Reach

...this blurb is about the feedback of his appearance... check it out...

We were thrilled and grateful to everyone who contacted us saying how much they loved The Night Of The Doctor and how exciting they found the new mini episode! The universal delight and sense of thrilled surprise was overwhelming and we’d like to offer sincere thanks to all those web sites that pushed to the adventure without revealing any of its secrets.

The revelations that The Night Of The Doctor sprang were jubilantly received by fans around the world and critics have already applauded the return of the Eighth Doctor. The secrecy surrounding the story enabled huge numbers of fans to watch and relish the surprises it held.

The Night Of The Doctor was our most ambitious mini episode yet, a 7- minute special written by Steven Moffat that plunges viewers into the chaos of the Time War where a spacecraft is hurtling out of control… But the TARDIS is on hand to help its pilot and we all know who will step from the blue box to offer assistance except… ‘I’m a Doctor!’ says a familiar voice. ‘But probably not the one you expected!’

Dead right! There he was - the Eighth Doctor himself - last seen in the Doctor Who TV Movie in 1996! It was a wonderful moment and Paul McGann was able to recapture the character immediately with all the wit and charisma that typified his take on the Doctor. We soon had another blast from the past, quite literally as the Doctor crash-landed on Karn, last seen in The Brain of Morbius. And for the first time ever, the dying Doctor was able to choose his next self. A spectacular regeneration and ‘the War Doctor’ appears… This version of the Time Lord, as played by John Hurt, was first seen in The Name of the Doctor, but here he looks much younger… Who was able to resist hitting ‘Play this again’ immediately?

If you missed it, we also ran an interview with Steven Moffat in which he discusses the adventure and how it came about, and of course, the mini episode itself is available to watch now!

And as day follows night, the 50th Anniversary special will be here soon! The Day of the Doctor premieres on BBC One on Saturday, 23 November at 7.50pm and you can see clips and trailers for that adventure now!

...how good is that?... I sure hope that Paul McGann gets more work on the show in the future... I really do... cheers.

Ditto
I love him as an actor, and a gentleman - he's so sweet in that interview, he never stops signing for the fans the whole interview.
And you can see he's wistful about what could have been.

Last little special is on tonight, Destinations.
Then heaps of goodies next weekend, starting on Saturday night.

BBC are broadcasting the star studded after party live straight after The Day of the Doctor, hope we get that too.

...if they do that it would be awesome!... man it's going to be a good week!... on this website link... http://www.cultbox.co.uk/features/guides/3929-doctor-who-50th-anniversary-news-summary ... they have a list of quotes from this past year from people to do with the show... you have to take it all with a grain of salt though because as well as possible spoilers there are a myriad of red herrings too lol!... I enjoyed reading them... cheers.

...how good is this video that was done by a fan of the show as an opening sequence for the new Doctor Who series starring Peter Capaldi?... of course it's not the official one that will be used but bloody hell... it could easily be!... this guy has got talent!... cheers.

...here is Steve Moffatt commenting on Paul McGann's performance just recently... I did notice that he says...

http://www.doctorwhotv.co.uk/moffat-on-mcganns-return-55372.htm

'Paul is not only known for the telemovie but for all his wonderful audio adventures. I’m always telling the Doctors and companions, as they come through the show, that they’ll never be quite done with it – Big Finish is expecting them.

...now that gives me some hope that Paul McGann could in some way resurface in future stories... mind you I think that it really is just my wishful thinking lol!... cheers.

...you are right kxk... on this website...

http://www.doctorwhotv.co.uk/doctor-who-live-the-afterparty-doctor-who-day-55398.htm

...in it they say...

'The live BBC Three show is to celebrate all things Doctor Who with Matt Smith and fans around the world'...

...and also...

'As well as all the gossip on the The Day Of The Doctor, there will be exclusive interviews, show-stopping monster moments and fans around the world will be giving their reaction, as they showcase how they are celebrating the special anniversary'.

...so I'm guessing that the ABC here will have some sort of coverage of it hopefully... if not perhaps the Foxtel UK Channel?... let's hope eh?... cheers.

...aw man!... I just love this outfit for a Doctor!... it's the outfit that he wore for his mini-episode... so cool!... cheers.

...here is David Bradley talking about his portrayal of William Hartnell who played the first ever Dr Who... I found it to be a good little insight into Williams initial reluctance to play the Doctor in the first place...

... I found this article to be quite interesting to say the least... it gives a bit of an insight on Matt Smiths exit... it doesn't give away any spoilers as far as I can see... still good reading regardless... geez... after posting 10 in a row I think that I'd better give this thread a rest from me lolol!... (10 in a row?... I need to get my life back!... but it is Doctor Who after all isn't it?... lol!)... cheers.

Yes, that was what I was referring to earlier when I said :

I appreciate the contributions from all you guys, it really adds to the excitement.

ABC are showing the dramatisation about Doctor Who's origins next Sunday too.

...aaaaaaah!... the penny drops!... right... sorry Meglos I didn't click to that the first time around... thanks for pointing that out... it will be a good show methinks... I can't wait for it... it looks like they've gone into great detail too in regards to the sets and costumes of the day...I love attention to details... cheers.

Yes it looks fantastic! Next Sunday will be a great day for the fans.

(And in reply to kxk, no I didn't get cinema tickets, there was only one theatre in my city showing it & it was too much hassle. I'll be watching it at home).

That is a shame, the tickets sure sold out fast - I kept checking, and by the time I found screenings they were all pretty much gone, I was lucky to find the extra one the Monday night.
Hoyts suck so bad, they have it on in horrible places, not a single city cinema dimwits.
And OMG nobody has it on in Goldclass, when it is the perfect movie to indulge yourself in luxury.

Keep posting stickyfingers, it is now the countdown, squeee it's so exciting, only a week to go, so much fantastic Doctor stuff everywhere, the websites have heaps of stuff, ABC has heaps of stuff.

Loads of interviews on those websites celebrating 50th, and I keep forgetting it's going to be 3D, ooooooooo
3D TARDIS!!

Quote from Jenna's interview

What differences did you find filming in 3D compared to 2D?
Loads of differences. Well for a start the cameras are massive, so you kind of can’t miss them and they’re really heavy for the poor camera operators. The framing is quite different and when the Doctor points you can kind of really react to it. I just think the show lends itself so well and there are so many moments in it that will work really well in 3D. On the first day I saw Matt in the TARDIS in 3D and it felt like the world was coming right out at you.

...oh.my.friggin.God!!!!!... I'm watching an episode of Dr Who that I've never seen on TV before on the UK Fox channel right now!!!!!... it's not the new series... it's obviously one of the episodes towards the end of last season that I have somehow missed among all of the 'set to records' that I do with anything to do with Dr Who... the episode is called 'Hide'... what a bonus for me... it's like watching a new episode altogether!!!... hmmmmm... now I'm wondering how I missed it in the first place... an investigation is now afoot... lol!... cheers.

Squeeeeeeee, me too!

I had missed this one too, and it's awesome.
And I'm watching repeats late at night, and realising I need to re-watch a lot, often I watched episodes when I was stressed or very tired, I'm catching heaps of stuff I missed 1st time - and I guess that is always true anyway there is so much there.

I'm focusing on Matt more with repeats I have seen before, I love him, I love his face, he's semi tragic like he knows something awful is coming.

He is fantastic in this Hide episode, OMG I may love him as the Doctor more than anyone in the end.

I'm going through all the lovely DW celebratory stuff, just to feed my anticipation some more, it's like Christmas is coming - I love the interviews

Bit from Matt's

Were there any moments when you were standing on the floor waiting for action to be called and thinking ‘Oh my goodness, I’m actually doing this’?
Of course, there’s always those moments in Doctor Who when you’re going, ‘Wow we’re doing Doctor Who and there’s David Tennant over there and John Hurt over there and Billie over there and there’s a Redgrave over there’. There are a lot of those moments when you make this show. But I think the wonderful thing was there was great down time. I just enjoyed spending time with David and obviously for me as well as I am about to leave the show, it was really interesting to talk to him about that experience and his experience on the show, because it is a very individual experience playing the Doctor. It was quite nice to go, ‘What was that bit like for you?’ and it was just sort of enlightening really.

...lol!... I know what you're talking about kxk about going to other websites and the Internet at the moment in regards to Dr Who stuff... as you can see last night I had a massive surf-a-thon on the Internet... 10 posts in a row... a new record for me!... lol!... I like those snippets of interviews that you're posting too... cheers.

Moffat interview excerpt, oh this sounds so cool.

The 50th special will mark the return of David Tennant to the role of the Tenth Doctor, starring opposite the Eleventh, Matt Smith. How was it having two Doctors on set?
It was eye twisting at times. You don’t quite realise how these two men have become hard wired into your brain as the Doctor. Matt and David got on so well and their interaction on screen is a sublime double act. Matt said to me, “It’s a bit like Laurel and Laurel. It’s like Hardy didn’t turn up”. They are absolutely great together. Sometimes very, very, different, other times in moments they choose together they are exactly the same.
