When Tim asked Jade when they were wrapping presents for the task if she would still love Ed if he was hideously ugly, she replied "I don't know, I would have to get to know him". This clearly shows the lack of depth to Jade and Ed's relationship - she doesn't know who he is, but is happy to be with him based on his good looks.

Yep. The fact that if he was ugly she'd need "to get to know him first" before flinging her vagina at him at every turn was quite revealing.

That's what I have come to realise as well. She went from one lifestyle to a completely differnt one and she doesn't like it and now she is stuck- that's the impression I get. She is a good person, I would never say she is a bad a person, but she has her flaws, which makes her human. But so do all the other hm's. they are in the same boat there, just for different reasons. Tahan has said that she moved to Melbourne to do uni because her ex bf was there. He dumped her, but she stood on her two feet and learnt to be independent and worked through it all. I think jade needs a little guidance to help her find her way in life, because if she expects a guy to save her, she is going to be worse off IMO.

She just admitted she doesn't know him that well, so how can she say she loves him? Think she just proved how shallow she is.

At first I thought it was a bizarre thing to say, but I think what Jade meant was that she wouldn't have had the initial attraction to him - which is ultimately based on looks or first impressions. So she meant she'd have to get to know him in the way she has now to feel the same way.

It actually makes sense to me, but yeah it does make her look slightly shallow.

Yeah, watching it again I think this is 100% spot on. Tim wasn't coming from a place of how Jade sees Ed now, but her initial attraction in the beginning. Her follow up response of "that's not true!" to Tim's "all he has going for him is his looks" obviously means she sees a lot more to him than that now.

Obviously it makes her a bit shallow saying she originally noticed him for his looks, but honestly, I think we'd all be lying if we said looks didn't play some part in our initial impressions of someone. It's sad but very true.

Absolutely. I think everyone does this without even realising, just in the same way you notice if someone is male or female without even making a conscious assessment, you notice their appearance and make an assessment of it. Everyone has different tastes and finds different things attractive, and some people are better at looking past looks than others, but yeah... everyone makes this snap judgement, surely?
 
I don't find it shallow at all, physical attraction plays a big part in a relationship you need that just as much as you need the emotional and mental compatability

Yes I agree!! And physical attractiveness doesn't just mean the looks you're born with either. Grooming - nice hair, clean/intact teeth, schmick clothes, smelling good etc is far more important than 'looks' in my opinion. From personal experience, the only people who say that looks don't matter at all are the slovenly ones who couldn't give a shit about their appearance and expect you to do the same.

Physical attraction is clearly crucial, but I think what Tim was implying was that Jade may not feel the same way about Ed if he weren't "objectively" good-looking. If that makes sense.
 
I think Tim was just trying to set up Jade and make her look bad.

The question wasn't clear and he was hoping to get Jade to have egg on her face.

ya think Ed the mumbler has "game" with the ladies...other than holding doors for them
he gets totally flustered, pulls on his "man" as a nervous tick...he said he has not had a gf
for many Xmas ( not prince charming)...and I believe him...conundrum...Ed wants an independent,
strong, gorgeous, take no prisoners gurl (sounds like Tahan) but he wouldn't have a clue what to do
with her...he mentioned he and his twin are both single...no doubt they are

Hmm I wonder why men are routinely crucified for stating that they prefer physically fit slim good looking women to the alternative.

Men are bashed for "thinking with only their dicks" and not trying to appreciate a woman for everything else she has to offer, such as her intellect, personality etc... Hypocrisy much?
 
Who looks at an ADONIS like Ed and wonders how charitable or kind he is?

No, you look him up and down and wonder how it feels in your hand. How heavy is it? Will it touch the sides?
