What was the point of Tully's interview?

As she said tonight, that's how she felt then. Can you really not understand how overwhelming it must be to emerge from that house after months and go straight onto a stage to answer personal questions in front of the entire country? I don't know if she was lying or not about her feelings for Drew (in the first interview) but if she was, I don't blame her. She had no idea what kind of reaction she would be receiving from Tahlia and she didn't know what Drew would say when he's evicted.

Pretty much this. They seldom admit they have real loving feelings for whoever they hook up with in the house (although Ryan thought he and Estelle would hook up). She was in a relationship as far as she knew so she either had to talk to Tahlia, to break things off or figure out what was real and what wasn't, and had to see how Drew felt about her. Remember Drew said he would go back to his ex if she was waiting so being non-committal is just self preservation. She had no idea what Drew might have been saying away from her or in the diary room.

So little miss 'wears her heart on her sleeve' and 'thinks and acts on her emotions not her head' essentially acted 100% strategically and 'head thinking' in her exit interview. Okey dokey then

In case there is any uncertainly I'm not buying into her bs

Definitely situational with her. Amongst friends and family, I'd say she is very touchy feely and emotional and some of them have verified that. On stage in front of an audience, her professional side would probably come to the fore.

I don't get what your problem with her is. If you just find her annoying then that's fine, but would you really expect her to proclaim her love for Drew right after being evicted? That would be totally foolish. She hadn't even had a chance to speak with Tahlia yet.

yes, exactly.

For me the interview was pointless (other than how it made me happy because I got to see her) because I've heard it all before in other interviews she's done, but maybe it's good for other people who haven't seen any of her interviews since the one straight after she was evicted, because everyone kept complaining about how "dishonest" she was.

I think it may be the case of the initial eviction interview being handled badly, Tully finding out she was dumped, BB realising the first interview was rubbish so decided to do another interview. If the asked the questions before she heard that Tahlia was hurt by her, I suspect the answers would have been different. She knows that Tahlia won't take her back (and again, high five to the girl on behalf of everyone who had to deal with a cheating partner), so Drew "will do"

Yeah, but I think it's good that she was given some time before being asked the hard questions. If she'd been asked the questions she was asked tonight in the first interview, she probably wouldn't have fully answered them and it would have been awkward because she didn't know where she stood with anyone.

lara, it was good to see her as the Tully I like her as... positive, happy, even joked about not crying ... I really like her when her glass is half full

It was pointless. We knew some of the answers already through twitter and what not, but she answered the tougher questions on the radio. I think it was more bb saving its ass for handling it so badly the first time. Nothing to do with tully at all, just channel 9 proving they can ask the tough questions IMO.

Just wanted to add that I don't think these answers can be as genuine as the answers you give when first evicted. When you are first evicted and you are questioned and shown footage and asked further questions, a hm is still unaware of public perception and is not influenced by anything outside the house as of yet. Doing an interview a week later or whatever it was, allows tully to gain access to info and therefore are more prepared.

In regards to tonight's answers though- the part where she said she didn't realise how much footage they had of her and drew. All i kept thinking was, if cameras hadn't caught her she would still have gotten away with it. So in real life where there are no cameras... See where I am going with this? I just see a cheater. She did say one thing that made sense to me and that was she wasn't liked before the drew incident. That was true, it just intensified with the cheating stuff.

So the Tully hype was a bit of a let down which I half expected. But I liked the interview.

Contrary to what has been said I think a bit more was revealed in this interview - maybe I missed some interviews though? She has been pretty quiet about how she still feels about Drew but I think it's clear from this interview what she wants. She doesn't want to outright say she wants to go out with him though just in case he comes out and doesn't want that. Laugh - but essentially she is trying to not make a bigger fool of herself.

Also to the people hoping this will be the last of it and that it will be laid to rest now - Drew still has to be evicted (or win, though I doubt he will) and Alex said in his Nova interview he wouldn't miss the opportunity to reunite Drew and Tully. Unless Drew does something stupid and hooks up with one of the other girls in the house it is likely she will be flown up there every time he is up for eviction - not to do interviews or anything obviously but so they can bring her out if he is evicted. There is only about 5 weeks, one of those she would have to be there for anyway (the finale), I'm pretty sure they can afford to do this.

It was definitely for ratings. So many non-viewers tuned into the show after hearing about Tully on news and radio so they needed to milk that for all it's worth.

As for the impact of it...well haters were never going to warm to her, and lovers were never going to go off her. However I consider myself a bit of a Tully swing voter: I loved her in her introduction package and on stage with Sonia, hated her in the house, warmed to her again on her exit interview and in what I've seen of her on twitter since then. But tonight turned me off her completely. Yes, she was happy and personable and has a bit of 'spark' to her and I think if she didn't have her actions in the BB house tarring her, she would make a great host on channel V or even ABC3 or Nickelodeon or something with a teen or tween audience. But her answers to that interview just showed a really unpleasant person IMO and I wish she hasn't done that interview as I was warming to her and wishing her success prior to it.

Well.. no HM ever returned to explain themselves... its quite unfair + HOW FREAKIN SCRIPTED AND REHEARSED THAT WAS!!

It had little to no effect that I could see on the ratings, however. No huge swell in numbers. The ratings remain pretty steady, if flat, this year.

Just wondering what everyone else thought the reasoning was behind Tully doing the interview on tonight's show. They said it was to "set the record straight". I think she dug a bigger hole for herself. Please discuss :)

I think you are a douche and if Tully discovered a cure for cancer you would still talk crap about her. Enough already !!!

Tully was great in the interview she was upbeat smiling fairly happy and she came clean about some of the things she was covering up/hiding with regard to her relationship(s)

I think when she was first evicted, they didn't want to give her any hard questions because they didn't know how she would react and it would be too overwhelming for her, but now that they can see that she's actually really great at interviews, they wanted to give her some tougher questions that lots of people were asking.

So "they" decided to make her the only evictee not to be given a superpower? all the publicity she was going back would be a reason - but she didn't go back in the house?

Not entirely sure what you're getting at here. Of course it was also for publicity - that's why channel 9 had all those stupid ads. She didn't get a superpower because there were no nominations.

Does this ring a bell?

Sonia: Are you ashamed at all for cheating on your girlfriend on national television?

Tully: Obviously I'm ashamed, like it was never my intention. I never thought in a million years that would happen, and the fact that I've hurt somebody that I care very much about, is horrendous and I feel horribly about it. There's nobody that can make me feel worse than I already feel to be honest.

Whilst i do think she has handled herself well amongst all of the backlash, i do not think what Tully said above is indicative of her remorse. Tully was someone who cried at the drop off a hat in the house and whom Thalia said on here cries a lot normally, so if when talking about something that she truly felt bad about would she not cry this time as well? However, there wasn't even a quivered lip or a watery eye. It would have been perfectly natural for her to cry in that moment after that question, but nothing.
