Housemate #5 TULLY!

As a 45 year old woman with a 12 year old daughter and 15 year old son, all of whom are fans of Tully I will tell you that we like Tully because she is just a girl, ya know? And she doesn't even have two heads.

My nearly 5 year old daughter likes Tully. I think it's just because of the very few bits and pieces she has seen (ie. getting out of bed to ask me something when the show is on) Tully was the one on screen, and was the most mentioned name, so it was the only one she was familiar with. Just going purely by how she is on stage and in interviews, she'd be someone who would appeal to kids I think - in those instances she is smiley and enthusiastic and friendly, with a little bit of wacky and carefree thrown in. (I even like her in those instances and find her personable and likable, despite my dislike of her in the house). She'd make a good presenter on ABC3 or Nickelodeon.

Forgot to say I obviously don't know how old the kids were in the crowd today but my 4yo loves Tully, Tim, Ben and Tahan. He's in bed before the DS but if he catches me watching a live feed he cracks up bigtime because of their facial expressions and general expressiveness so maybe other kids notice that too?

Isn't that funny? My 4 year old daughter doesn't like Tully because "she's not kind" but my 8 year old daughter loved her and cried when she was evicted. Lol they're funny little things.

Well I saw Tully today along with all other evicted housemates (apart from Heidi) at the royal Melbourne show. They did a thing on stage where Michael (from last years big brother) appeared on stage and introduced them all one at a time and asked questions of them all. Then after it they took some questions from the audience and some kid asked Ed and Matt how did they get such big muscles. Michael looked around for a bit and said something like Ed isn't there, so I don't know if this kid thought everyone was there from the house or just meant Caleb. Anyway Matt just said about what he ate and about being in the army or whatever and Caleb then did some push-ups on the floor for a bit.

But yes I'm mainly here for talking about Tully. Michael was saying how he knew Tully before she went in the house and how they had been following each other on twitter, and how she asked him for advice about going in bb and he said yes it'll be the best thing you've ever done, won't regret it etc and then slightly a nod to how that didn't all work all that way exactly with all the blowup. Tully was saying how she's single now and some people called out from the audience as if they're available. Some kid asked Tully what was her best moment and she said when the walls came down. Michael was asking her about what was the go with her getting nominated for being negative and so on, and I think Tullys answer to that was about missing sugar and just the people on the outside? There was a bit more to the answer, but I don't fully recall. Nothing much more was mentioned about Tully but she did get the best reception with loudest cheers and claps out of them all I think.

Someone then asked them all who they think is leaving the house this week, majority said ed just based off previous voting, but Tully said either Jade and someone else (can't remember who the other person she said was - but I don't think she's had much time out to get a feel for the housemates followings).

Anyway then I thought it was basically all over but on the big video screen behind a shot of the diary room chair appeared and the big brother who sounds a bit like an old man started talking and said something like hello to those at the Melbourne show, and about how he has a special guest. They had ed then appear on the diary room chair but I don't think he was aware that he was on the screen for the audience there. Big brother just started chatting to him about the afl grand final and about who he thought would win, etc and who does he think was in it. Then asked him who he thought would be evicted and Ed said probably drew just because Tully was, Tully I think was a bit surprised at that and parts of the audience disapproved as they liked Drew.

Anyway it then ended with mike saying about how there was a meet and greet around the corner and you can get in line, so heaps of people left but some went up to the stage as they were leaving and tried to get Tullys attention and she came and touched their hands, etc. she was really nice. It seemed most were really there for her today!

Then as I was leaving the line was way too long for the meet and greet so I wasn't going to bother with that but I saw a lot of them looking to a building on the opposite side, and there was a crowd surrounding. Went to have a look and Tully and Matt were meeting with a crowd and some security around. From that I took they weren't doing the meet and greet, they were just doing something else and a crowd had spotted them. Anyway Tully and Matt were taking photos and hugs with people and the kiddies were really loving Tully. All these young girls and others kept yelling out her name and saying they loved her and everything. A photographer came along though and took a photo of Matt and Tully with the crowd behind, but I'm not sure what this was for. Maybe the big brother Facebook or twitter or some newspaper or something. Anyway security told them it was time to go, so Matt and Tully went up some stairs where others couldn't follow as there was a bar/barricade thingy. People kept calling for Tully though so she came down again to meet some more people and take photos, and she seemed really nice. It is so funny seeing her and Matt close up in the flesh though. Yes they're real people but them being on TV makes them seem like something more, but you see them and they just end up being smaller than you thought.

Thank you for that. It was just as I imagined Tully would be received in the Real world. Hates on FB or Forums, it's not real. People are more confident to hate from their houses.

Ive barely watched it too. She probably wasnt at the Footy Show because the audience are drunk bogans and predominately men and it wouldnt have ended well.

You cant argue Tully wasnt one of the most popular BB housemates ever, people are STILL talking about her and shes been gone nearly a week. all the other evictees have been forgotten about already.

If the votes came from a stochastic process then the expectation would be 0.167 when the number of eviction candidates was 6 and 0.333 for the last eviction. Tully received less than 16% and 33% for every eviction. So she could hardly be called one of the most popular. However, she is one of the most interesting. Dullness is not a virtue.

Exactly, these Tully haters are the same people who, if were part of a crowd and met Tully, would reach out their hand for a Hi 5.

Hate to tell you, the internet is the real world, but whatever helps you sleep at night. Of course Tully fans are going to be the ones meeting Tully...

I think you're taking what she said about herself and Drew at face value a little too much.

agreed. it reminds me of how celebrities always deny dating each other only for it to be confirmed true a couple months later.
I always thought she was playing that relationship down because she doesn't want to embarrass her girlfriend any further.
if she didn't have feelings for him she wouldn't have stormed off when he told her that he would drop everything for his ex-gf. and that cryptic thing she kept saying after she calmed down ("you've just made my life a whole lot easier") was really telling I think.

Absolutely

I swear, Tully out of the house is a completely different person than in the house. I am so glad to see she is back to how I remembered her. I honestly worried that the awesome girl she was was gone forever and I was almost mourning her.

So you put that down to how her "character" was portrayed on the show then?

I honestly don't know. Maybe she is just really good at the media circuit, and in turn also "faking it" - so to speak - in some of her social interactions in the real world (ie, with me). At first, I felt like BB Tully was just an exaggerated version of her personality, and then I had no idea what was going on. I'm still sure.

So, in conclusion, I have no freaking clue. But I still adore the Tully that I know and I am now confident that she is still around, which is the main thing (for me).

We know Heidi has been talking to Tully and she just retweeted this to her:

I thought it might be good speculation fodder for you all.

^ She must have changed it so it's not directed to Tully

She retweeted it twice.

Tully is so much more likeable outside the house, to me. This year has been weird like that, people seem completely different at their eviction on stage with Sonja. I feel so ripped off by the format, I just know I don't see nearly enough of the HM's while they're inside the house to form an opinion.

It's less a case of "vote for your fave HM" and more a case of "vote for your favourite edit/storyline" then meet the cast of characters after the "show".

Tully also may have been masking her grief with Instagram, Sims, Twitter & sugar, all highly addictive and effective for escapism. Remove the coping mechanisms and the shit comes flooding out, if that is the case. I get testy without sugar for a day!
