The hate for Tully is disturbing

Does nobody else think the hatred some people have for her is a bit much? I mean some posts on here, twitter, Facebook act like this woman has murdered a family member of theirs.

I think BB should call Tully into the diary room and quietly take her off the show, cause as it looks now her upcoming eviction show on Monday could be pretty ugly. Yes she did wrong to her girlfriend on the outside and she sure has a stroppy cranky personality but the brutal comments being thrown at her are bordering scary!!

And those that really are bothered by her can take comfort that she has no relationship anymore and this stint on BB will be a really bad memory for her. Surely thats enough karma back at her? Like I said before I'm not condoning her actions but she is only human and seems to lack ANY self awareness. She deserves more pity than hate IMO.

I completely agree with you. I created a thread a few days ago similar to this but more general. I don't hate Tully, I can't hate her because I don't know her, or her personal life. The majority of people are upset with Tully because she is cheating on her girlfriend and that's understandable but like I said, we don't know the back story. Personally I don't like her but not for that reason - I just find her such a downer and she has to make everything about her. She's just a big complainer. Plus the fact that she has completely ruined my Drew! ;)

This is the internet, people often have over the top opinions and threaten people extremely deranged ways...the number of them who would actually carry out these acts is very low, she'll be right.

The housemates become avatars of a whole section of society, like archetypal characters. And what some of these hms come to represent is hated, and this is transferred to the person, I reckon. Tully represents a certain whiny self entitled bitchy brat to a lot of people, also she stands for lesbians, for cheating girlfriends, and people with issues with these types will burn her as an effigy.

I am realising I have psychological issues with two of the archetypes, Matt and Heidi. I scream at the tv when Heidi talks. There is something in the loud mouthed stupid but thinks she is clever bossy aussie female that really irks me, more than necesary. It implies under the skin issues. When Mikkayla was telling people to vote Liberal I had the same reaction, and I like Mikkazla, but at that time she was like Heidi to me. The Matt thing I get, and I am totally cool with having issues with people like him.

With Tully, the vitiol has gone beyond just personal. Some people are butthurt that people like her exist, and that they may succeed, and they want to be able to crush her, and thus crush people like her. Maybe.

I think bb should consult with her family and friends. I mean she obviously thinks she's done nothing wrong, and still talks of loving her girlfriend. Consult with them and see if she thinks her girlfriend is more important than whatever she is doing with this Drully stuff. I think if she knew she'd want to get out of the house.

Oh and keep in mind some of the things people have against her was even before this 'drully' stuff. Mocked her for being emotional, and then when the news about Tahlia dumping her happened the negativity towards Tully was amped up.

I don't hate her because it's an incredibly strong word, and this is just a tv show. But as a character on a tv show, she's incredibly self-centered, manipulative, emotionally unstable, supercilious, needy and exasperating. I've seen no redeemable qualities. There are fleas more tolerable than Tully.

Well group hate is always disturbing. I think her transgression isn't so much the cause of the hate toward her (she was already unpopular), but it certainly legitimises it for people, because it can now be a 'moral' outrage and people can preserve the idea they are being 'good' and 'right' as they abuse someone they have never met, on the internet. But in reality, this is part of how reality TV works, giving us stuff to feel angry about.

The other day I caught the end of ACA before BB started, and Tracy Grimshaw promised the viewers a story tomorrow that was guaranteed to 'make your blood boil'. It's kind of weird people actually want to be made to have their blood boil, but there it is.

I'm one of those who disliked her before any of the Drew stuff started, simply because of her consistently negative attitude about everything. She was given an extremely rare opportunity to participate in a reality show that she prides herself on being a massive fan of and yet from day dot she was miserable. If she wasn't crying she was bitching. If she wasn't bitching she was moping. If someone didn't know any better they'd think she'd never heard of BB before, had been forced at gunpoint to enter the house and didn't go through a laborious audition process to be selected. The Drully thing just sealed it all for me although her behaviour towards Jade and Mikkayla in particular would've done the job anyway even if she'd never hooked up with Drew.

Hate is a VERY strong word. I think people find her irritating and repulsive, but they dont hate her, they dont know her.

Hate is a strong word. As a tv character she doesn't seem to have any redeemable qualities at all, that make her even slightly likable. Tahan for example, while 'mean' and 'bitchy' has a lot of redeeming features such as fun loving, honesty and sweetness. The positives outweigh the negatives. Heidi, while loudmouthed redeemed herself in last night's episode by making up with Tim and interacting positively with other housemates. Perhaps it's the editing, and while I don't hate her, nor wish her any harm, as a social media strategist, one would assume that she would be well aware of the hate directed towards her and act accordingly in the house.

she sucks the fun and the life out of the whole house and now Drew is no longer the same

she thinks the whole show should be about her and what she wants

Excellent interpretation. In order to survive as a species man had to learn to control his aggression. And for a stable society the culture has needed to provide a valve for individuals to blow off steam. From Christians being thrown to the lions, to the popularity of public hangings, to sports, to video games we are always looking for away to safely let go of our anger. And now we have the Internet., our centuries colosseum .
Tully is getting the worst of it because she represents one of the most hated of all archetypes, the narcissist. She believes herself to be more important then anyone else. This is her fatal flaw. Whether it is cheating ( my happiness is more important than my partners) or the crying and gnashing of teeth ( my sadness is greater then anyone else's), what she is essentially telling us is that you are not as worthy as I am. She attacks the publics most fundamental sense of self worth and preservation. She comes to represent all of or feelings and experiences of the same type of person we have encountered in the past. And she becomes a safe outlet for us to express our aggressive feelings.

Through life experiences some never learned to express their anger with in the societal norms, or have unreleased anger from other issues that they channel through this safety valve or feel like they need to "scream" in order to be heard or understood. There are many reasons that take you from Tully is a brat to Tully s a ... and I want to ....

This I agree with. Many time I have shared my honest opinions on Tully and most of the time those opinions have been negative. It was well before Drully and it was not restricted to her overdose of crying (which I do also find annoying). I usually called out in my posts the specific behaviours I disliked and felt showed her true character. What would anyone of the HMs expect when going on national TV but to be judged for what they do and say.

I have only read this forum so cannot say what is happening in other online spaces. I can say that I have just finally watched the showdown episode and really, with the stuff she says and does, why would you expect anything but negativity towards her?

She has displayed behaviours that are nasty, manipulative, shown her as being self-absorbed and acting like she is above others, tonight she was a complete two faced backstabbing bitch to Jade and acting quite cocky about it (to name but a few characteristics), she is clearly crossing relationship boundaries with Drew and yet often acts like she has the moral high ground in conversations, so you can add hypocritical to the list.

I still do not HATE her, if anything she is a very damaged personality. I agree BB should take her out of the show, if anything I don't think the should have passed her through psych testing so she could get on to start with.

No. The whole break up thing is a pretty arranged ploy to keep her in. Likewise her negative attitude.

While I appreciate your view point, you do not know other people so you can not define a feeling for them.

your right, thats why I wrote that I think that. I really hope though they dont hate her, yeah she is annoying and bad some mistakes but it didnt affect anyone and will still pay its cost.

Sorry, misunderstood you. I thought you were saying that people are not allowed to hate her because they don't know her. Must be the language barrier ;)
