Has BBAU gotten good now?

this year BB is very bland theres no real direction to it just seems like they threw the HM's in and hoped for the best
needs something to spice it up
even the evictions are as boring as watching paint dry
sonia's interviewing of the evictee's is like watching someone extracting teeth she lacks interest in it
channel 10 did a much better job of BB

Can I ask, has anything kicked off at all. Is there any major highlight of this series so far for you. I have only seen a few minor arguments that never went anywhere

If it's arguments you want then you need to watch Real Housewives. Totally looking forward to the Disney version.

Same, but with me the 50% changes within days or most times minutes.
Hahahaha!! Mine aren't quite that fluid, but I know what you mean.

There have been a couple that have fallen from "grace" quite spectacularly and haven't managed to claw their way back up in my estimation yet.

Mik has been really the only constant. I've liked her from the jump.

I'm loving BBAUS this year but I've had to endure BBUS all summer, watching BBAUS is like taking a clean shower after swimming in muck...lol.

What a joke this year is. I'm not blaming the HM. The production is shit. I am fed up. TV shows fuck all, the website is always broken and takes half hour to watch 10 min of footage, not to mention the continual ads, no live feed.

Irony: I am reading about a 24/7 TV show with one hundred cameras on a blog site that is censored to the hilt. I want to watch, but its just to much of an effort. Pathetic. The poor bastards are going to get out and think what a wasted effort they didn't even show half the shift we got up to

^ Consuela does a fantastic job at keeping the live updates thread updated which makes viewing the videos very simple and hassle free. However you are right, this does not excuse the OS

The housemates are fine, there just isn't enough alcohol compared to the UK version.
If they gave out alcohol like the uk version and gave us a proper live feed it would turn this steaming shitheap into a good show.
the whole 06 controversy and the media backlash in the aftermath turned bbaus into pussy footing faeries.

This year HM wise, Id say it's up there as one of the best, 03, 04 & 05 perfect casting. I'd put 2013's group HM's with 01, 02 & 06.

Some BB's have turkey slaps, some have group racial vilification of Housemates. Still, BBAU's absolute worst moment would be just a footnote in BBUK's long, long list of violence, threats of violence, racism, homophobia, sexism, bullying, sexual conduct, and hostile House environments.

It is because of BBUK and the few dicey moments of old BBAU that we have the Big Brother that we do now. It's not just editing, the Housemate's behavior is clearly kept on a very tight leash from a controlling Big Brother, where even excessive swearing was punishable last year.

Going into a Big Brother house, wherever in the world you are, should not be seen as excuse to violate any of the laws or normal social conduct of the outside world. And if a Big Brother series is deemed not as good because it doesn't include the long list of terrible, anti-social behavior seen previously then that says a LOT more about the audience then it does the show itself.

Hey I totally agree except on one thing, I haven't seen any homophobia on BBUK at all. And racism is dealt very well with althought that doesn't excuse. Me as a viewer I don't enjoy any of violence, homophobia, sexism, racism, bullying- this is not fun to watch. I like to see arguments and rivalries which I have not seen in this AU one. I can agree with the hostile house environments this years UK one has been very hostile but as has others and it's great to watch in a way. :)

I think the alchol is just one factor. Another I think is that BBAU is on as a family show and BBUK is on as an adult show: you see people naked, swearing, smoking and very bad arguments etc. One other thing is I think the Australians don't go on it trying to become famous and in general seem like much nicer people (and that's coming from a British person) where as big brother was a social phenomon even now people are in the tabloids and can become famous over night over their antics.

AJO then what's the point. Might as well watch a scripted episode of Neighbours. Who are we protecting? Why are children even watching this show in the first place?

I won't be scarred for life if I see someone make a tool of themselves, but the fact that its edited out is what gives me the shits. In fact it's not even that censored because too many of them are afraid of the ramifications that might happen via the media, so they are censoring themselves. Sure if some one gets raped, don't show it and send them to jail, but seriously it's never that bad. So what if someone is homophobic or racist, that's life so show it, and fuck it let the kids watch, they might learn something.
