Halfway house concept

Precisely. And that is what earned Endemol millions. For some reason the producers can't understand that they don't need to micromanage the housemates in order to generate interest.

I think the issue is they need to generate footage that is acceptable to Nine's Family friendly requirements

I can't remember that. Mainly remember the mix of people that year worked. I guess it doesn't matter what what BB does the success relies with the talent
They were just ordinary people back them..now all they put in is models or radio personalities or wannbees

Except that it hasn't turned out that way. So far, in the two nominations, the Halfway House was filled almost exclusively with people who were in the Safehouse the previous week.

The split house has created an interesting dynamic in that when people live in the Safehouse they seem to become jerks and that gets them voted into the Halfway House the next week. I think that the concept is working out just fine.

That's as bad and unfair too.

So next week I guess they'll put Ed, Caleb, sisters, Drew and Matt in the halfway house because they haven't been in there as much as the others (or haven't been in there at all). That's unfair; they'll be nominating a housemate just for the fact that they haven't been in the halfway house, and not for important stuff such as personality.

You may think it's bad, but anything's fair in the house. Sometimes you nominate people for no good reason at all. To stop that a little, Big Brother always asks for a legitimate reason for your nomination. In reality, though, he'll take any reason.

I suspect that next week the Halfway House would be filled with current Safehouse members, such as Tim, the sisters, and Caleb. But, rumor has it that the wall will come down before then so it may be a moot point.

Yes, I think next week Ed especially would be targetted (and he probably would have been this week if he hadn't had the Superpower) but I think after next week it would have got more personal and once everyone had spent at least a week or two over there that aspect would be less of a factor in nominations. Sadly though they'll be abandoning it before it can get interesting.

just discovered youtube has old BB shit on it. I got Reggie year mixed up.. What I liked the best was the year Fitzy was in it. that year was definitely the best 2004... I have had more fun watching snippets of 2004 again on Youtube in 1 day than I have had all 2 weeks watching this years crap

This may be an unwitting condemnation of people like us who have stuck with the show for so long but 2004 was probably the peak. The newness factor had given way to national obsession. They had a first rate cast of HMs...something for everyone even if you disliked some. Subsequent seasons have shown the producers trying and mostly failing to replicate it.

So True, it's like they were lucky with the talent in 2003/2004 and have been trying to find that right mix/talent ever since. Not showing 80% of the footage and editing it to be family friendly doesn't help though.

Still for the average (teen) viewer, I guess it's entertaining enough, but give me the glory days when you tuned it for a perv but it was the conversation that made you come back night after night.
