Episode Saturday Showdown - 3 August 2013

Haha I didn't mind Showdown tonight. Shelley Craft certainly has the gift of the gab when it comes to laughing at scripted jokes. The banter between both Mike's on their mics wasn't too bad. Some games were lame, but they were back on Channel Ten too.

I reckon it fits in pretty well to the 6.30pm Saturday timeslot - should be good viewing for the lovers of Funniest Home Videos.

I wonder how it will rate though... $5000 for the winner took me by surprise..

Shelley was completely and utterly redundant on this show*. The format was better on FNL.

*actually she is pretty much redundant on any show

this was just as bad as confidential..

there should have been an audience to create atmosphere.

the transitions between shelley and the boys was horrible.. channel 9 have honestly ruined bb

I used to like Friday Night Live but this new show was terrible. Pre-recording the show sapped it of all its energy, and the fact that the host appeared to be located in a different city certainly didn't help. Mike and Michael didn't seem to be enjoying themselves at all. The format was so unnatural that they were just going through the motions. There was no room for the fun that the old hosts used to have together. This is hardly a show that I will bother recording in future week's when I'm out.

^This.

I was probably never going to like it because I can't stand Shelley to begin with, but she sank to an all time low for me.

An hour of my life totally wasted.

I thought it was a bit of fun. So glad Matt won and took a fellow half way houser in to get a good nights sleep for once.

While it lacked the verve of the FNL games, it was still okay in my book.

The show was awful. At least some funny things used to happen in FNL and the commentators would ad lib. The live audience helped too I think. It had no atmosphere. Felt flat and tanked. Rating 3/10 The games were ok to watch.

I thought it felt really weird having Shelley host the show. Back in the Ten-era, it didn't feel weird that Gretel wasn't anywhere near FNL because Mike Goldman, the infamous narrator, had the role of host and Bree and Ryan were there for the back-and-forth banter. Having him there in a large role created a feeling of continuity, linking all the various shows together.

Here, Goldman is pushed to the side and Shelley, who has no other connection to the show, is front and centre. It just screams "Sonia was unavailable" and "We felt obligated to work Goldman in somehow".

Remove Shelley and the whole "Showdown" concept would be a lot less jarring.

I didn't think I would like the games but it was much better than the FNL.

I enjoyed the games and IMO the best man won.

The games themselves were full of ... potential? But, fark.. focussing on Drade's "lovestares", and various other constructs (ps. how pissed must Tim be that he was a minor player, rather than center-stage?); ffs, just do a deal with 10 and hit up the old It's a Knockout set/scriptwriters.

IMHO: Eel in some of those short-shorts... Much more entertaining than well, and eel in a tank.

Um... No! Imagine what's-his-name as a commentator. You know, dopey, cross-eyed, curly haired git that pashed Layla for a while. Total pot plant. He would make the Olympics unwatchable!

That was George,

Wow people come on - why can't anyone remember housemates names???? lol

Because their passing celebrity, has, well, passed?

Oops, sorry, newbie. Scarcasm meter uninhibited.
