Caleb the firefighter

My first impressions are that he's saying what he thinks women want to hear, without realising how transparent it is. SNAG, sticks up for the underdog, wants someone with a good personality etc. Thick as a brick.

I very much like the fact that he's not a stereotypical "hottie". Give me normal-but-well-groomed (glasses a huge plus) any day.
Totally agree! Not that I'm averse to perving on an Ed, but Xavier would catch and hold my attention any day of the week.

I think there is more to Caleb, his intro video was a bit too vague.
Caleb and Jasmin...there's more to them.

I think it was vague because he's really not that interesting. I suspect it's just "Oh, he's a buff fireman, people will love that" type casting.

They've got to be able to do more than make me want to perv. A sexy speaking voice & laugh, preferably glasses, good grooming, good conversation skills, highly intelligent & very funny are all boxes that a person needs to tick before I even pay any attention to what they look like. And if they've got the whole package, it makes them look more attractive in my opinion. Very few housemates have captured me in such a manner - Chrissie Swan (still got a crush on her), Dan (same year as her), Tim Brunero, Camilla, Estelle to an extent, um...Michael potentially could have if not for the hair & disingenuousness, ditto Stacey if not for nasty streak.

Well yeah but that would have made sense last year.
All the other housemates have distinct personalities, but imo Jasmin and Caleb don't...seems like a waste to throw two boring people in there.
Oh well.

Caleb - A fireman, help help my room is on fire help. Wow spunky and a surfer. What is it this year with the boys in uniform
Prediction - quite reserved fellow, will assess the situation and tread carefully, possible in the top 5, will clash with Tim
Update - prediction was wrong as much as wrong can go

Estelle posted somewhere that Ed was supposed to go in last year, but then just didn't make the cut. I doubt the casting has changed that much. They've got a bit more of a diverse crowd, but it's the same box with different wrapping.

But it seems he's not as thick as a brick he has a degree -
all those posters who jump to conclusions and judge, judge, judge - books by the cover, etc.

And, fire fighters need to have reasonably nimble minds, it's hard to get into unless you can think real quick in a crisis.

He doesn't appeal to me, but be fair he's not done anything gross, can't help his fugly mug.

He's such an amiable chap, though. I've worked out who he reminds me of - Barney Rubble. I wish they'd send him in a costume for the day with a big brontosaurus bone club to carry.

I'd like to see that too, but make it very short (above the waist) and he's not allowed to wear anything underneath. Hopefully that's the only bone club he'll need to carry (but somehow I think a drumstick is gonna be a more realistic representation)

Just because someone has a degree doesn't mean they are smart. I was at uni with some really really dumb people and they still managed to scrape a pass for topics that were in a degree with a really really low TER. Having a degree isn't that revered anymore...

OMG! Yes! That's it! Barney Rubble! Hahahaha!!
I like him. What little we've seen of him I think he's alright.

He does seem a bit smarter than the first impression he made.
