You have to admit though. It actually didn't seem contrived that neither went home. Seriously there was no reason to choose one over the other. They both did really well. The only negative is one slightly under-cooked one bit of one lobster. So yeah I think it's good they did that. The only other fair option would have been to have another elimination challenge.

Also you have to admit, they're two of the better, more interesting contestants.

Further also the ad's shouldn't spoil the show format.

Yes please to Julia's recipe. I will then compare it to my Cookery The Australia Way (which I've since doing home ec at school in the 80's LOL) and my CWA book I bought a couple of years ago.

I have made them before using custard powder, and also without. I think they are yo-yo's with custard powder but melting moments without?

I missed a lot of last night, and just saw the service end of the challenge, I'm glad neither of the boys went home last night, I like them.

Update: Just looked at the MC website and got Julia's recipe:

My CWA one had custard powder in it. I remember the icing sugar as well because I used to love eating the melted butter mixed with the icing sugar *Homer drool*

I won't call shenanigans on last night either, it really did seem like there was nothing between them, it was also a pretty hefty elimination challenge, that was way harder than a beat the chef round. I am glad too because I thought Sam might get turfed because he was less cohesive than Andy.

Damn stupid Emma keeps getting through somehow.

There's still a lot of dead weight, but Sam & Andy are ok. They need to cut the ones who keep getting through by sheer luck - not being on the losing team or getting on the end of the line. Emma, Wade, Andrew, Mario, Jules...

hmm..well that's interesting because that's not Julia's recipe on the MC site. Not the one she had written on the scrap of paper that they showed Mario using. Here's hers, exactly how it was written.

Melting Moments

180g Butter, Vanilla
60g Icing sugar
60g cornflour
2 scant tspns baking powder
180g plain flour

Roll 20g balls. Fork imprint. Bake at 180 degrees. 12 mins.

There was no directions but he creamed the butter & icing sugar and added the rest of the ingredients. She told Mario to make sure the dry ingredients were well sifted. No recipe for the butter cream either but it would have been standard butter cream. I wonder why they posted a different recipe to the site.

re last nights episode, I thought the way they selected the bottom 4 was a but dubious. The worst cooks got through because they were too chicken to put their hands up to say their steak was cooked. Had they thought about it, it was perhaps a little risky but quite a good plan to just not raise your hand and hope the others stuffed up before you. Which they did. 4 of the better cooks in that group ended up in the bottom 4.

Yeah no one should have got a free pass, they should have all revealed their steaks and either won or lost.

I am confused about my MM recipe now, unsure if it was custard or corn flower (which one is the yellow box with the lady on the front?)

There are a whole lot of them seem pretty useless, and they are not learning to get better - old Andrew for example keeps making the same mistakes.
Glad those 2 got to stay, they are 2 of the more appealing types and seem hardworking, and Andy is the only eyecandy so he needs to stay a while.
Tassie dude seems a bit hopeless.
Jamie Oliver should be fun, and his food isn't especially technical or complicated just delicious.

10 have announced a MC All stars, to run straight after MC, 4 weeks I think - who do we have..........
Poh, pig man, julie G, julia
Callum, Kumar, Marion
Hadyn, Dani, winner................etc

Agreed Meglos, I never gave Andrew being straight a thought.

Am I the only one that thought last night was a little sus, Deb was out because of her finger which gave them 18, perfect number for trios, not only that but shouldnt her being ruled out automatically put her into tonight's Pressure Test.
It looks like only the bottom three will compete?

Seems sus that there was no mention of it by the judges.

They are two people I hoped to never see on my TV screen again. Don't think it'll stop me watching though.

lol @ pig man :D

LOL, I laughed too. I saw an interview with him and Julia a little while ago. He has his offal and beer bar and he was waffling on how it was their dream. I thought bullshit, it was his dream, not Julia's. I thought she was French inspired and wanted a fine dining restaurant. She was far more skilled that he ever was. It surprised me not one little bit that they were living his dream and hers was nowhere to be seen. I think he's a pig man in more ways than one.

No way is Andrew straight. "Warm my little tushy" indeed.
He has kids, a couple of adult daughters I think..not sure if a wife is still around. He wouldn't be the first gay man to have a wife and kids though. He certainly gives off that vibe, doesn't he.

I think he's going to be gone tonight. No way is he going to be able to hold out against Davinder and Audra. Those two will be in the the top 5 I think. It will be a shock if he does.

I wondered about that too Sam. There is no doubt she mashed her finger but I did wonder what they would have done had she competed and there was a uneven number. A crush injury might be just enough to put her out of the competition completely. It's not like a cut, it's much worse. She looked like she'd burst the end of her finger open. Nasty.

We cannot make assumptions, tempting though they may be.
I realised recently that a lot of people thought my Dad was gay - worked in fashion, quiet, lived in house full of women; my brother people thought the same when he was a hairdresser.

He looks like a crap hairdresser, that haircut we see he him doing looks like shit

In the grand scheme of things it makes no difference anyway, does it.:)

(re whether Andrew is gay or not)

i know about assumptions (being gay myself & everyone assumes otherwise), and of course it doesn't matter, it's just that everything about Andrew's mannerisms & body language sets off my gaydar. But if he's an effeminate straight man that's cool too.

Who is the fashion designer that you would swear is gay but isn't - is it Wayne Cooper? Alex Perry? All of them come across as camp as a row of tents as they say but none of them are!
