When the cool male group (Travis, Ryan & Sam)

I'm not sure about the guys feeling threatened, but I feel Sandra will fall for him and the other girls will be shocked for sure!

yeah it's going to be interesting to see if the HM's opinion of David changes now. Before the girls thought he was older, reminded them of dad with a creepy gross beard.
David has nice smile without the busy beard, so think it will help him with some viewers opinions as well.

Because they believe it themselves, and the girls have backed them up. Lisa, Katie, Aisha and even Skye tonight on his bed all reinforce Travis as the cool guy.
Wait, how do you know what they believe?

And Lisa and Katie weren't even on his bed, and even so, how does that reinforce that he is the "cool guy", and secondly, what is wrong with being "cool"?

Sounds ridiculous tbh.

Lisa has said she found Travis attractive. And Katie has flirted with him on the bed previously. I guess I don't know what Katie believes, but looking at the footage I've seen, especially when Travis was talking about Aisha that night, and she told him that being mean wouldn't work with her. Aisha has kissed him a few times, and Skye was helping him feel like Hugh Heffner tonight, lying on his bed with his arm around her and Aisha.

What's wrong woth being 'cool'? On Big Brother, where the piblic vote, a lot of people think the way Mikkayla, Drew and Tim did last year; that someone as stupid, arrogant and attention-seeking as Travis would be really fun to beat. To see fall.

So there's something wrong with looking attractive, flirting and kissing? Sounds even more ridiculous.

I still don't get what's inherently "wrong" with it either.

All in all, this is what's wrong with the whole "misfits vs cool thing". An absolute cop out to just shit on someone because they are better looking or because they get along better with other people, when they haven't even done anything wrong.

Victim mentality at its finest.

People's problem with it is that it's a group in the house that controls most of the power while others are marginalised. Last year every week when the 'cool' group was getting picked off, like Caleb and Matt, Tully and others made vocal and visible resentments that someone like Mikayla did not deserve to survive each week over the messiahs Matt and Caleb. There almost seemed to be this disbelief that Mikayla had the gall and audacity to think herself worthy of staying over Matt and Caleb.

whether or not there is a 'cool kids' clique meta or not seems a pretty silly argument to anyone that has ever watched a season of big brother, or even gone to school as a kid.

How is that any different to when someone says on this forum "man that bloke should be leaving not x housemate!".

Man, I can't believe the "cool kids" have the audacity to prefer their friends and people they like to stay in the house! Oh the humanity!/sarcasm

But seriously, there will always be groups forming. That's how social groups work. People bond better with other people, they want them to stay. It's bound to happen.

Now, if these "cool kids" were acting condescending and genuinely thinking they are better than others because they are "cool", then I can see where the problem regarding being "cool" can be, leading to arrogance and a condescending attitude.

But so far, neither of these things have occurred, and I'll call a spade a spade, sounds like a bunch of people who are just jealous, really.

It isn't about any of that. Drew was way better looking than any of these guys, was constantly flirting, kissing and getting on with people.

It is the entitled demeanor of this archetype that does it, I think. Travis strikes me as quite dumb. And when Gemma or David wanted to say they feel excluded and un-listened-to, he just told them they were wrong, and anyway, we are not going to change, because you need to.

And travia. Really? At least when Tim sought attention he tended to do it by doing something interesting or fun. Travis comes across, to me at least, like 2 year old Bart Simpson chanting 'I am so great, i am so great. Everybody loves me 'cause I am so great.'

It is frustrating too when people don't seem to see it, and enable guys like him.

Still, we all have our own favourites.

But those were the reasons you gave as to why you think Travis is "cool" which is apparently a negative.

And what's wrong with being dumb? This is what I don't get, people are very quick to use someone's intellect (or lack thereof) as a reason to dislike them.

But why? What does intellect have to do with whether you like someone or not?

And when Gemma or David wanted to say they feel excluded and un-listened-to, he just told them they were wrong, and anyway, we are not going to change, because you need to.
I disagree. Travis specifically said that he wouldn't change himself due to someone else's insecurities. Now, we may look at this 2 completely different ways, but the way I perceived what he said was, he didn't believe that David felt excluded, and hence why he wouldn't change himself, just because of some irrational insecurity (although, I do think David may be, and Travis just doesn't realise it).

Once again, I don't get it. Plenty of housemates cop it for being boring. Who else has attempted to fill the time by entertainment? There are a few, like Lawson with his magic, but not many more. And, I understand you don't like Travis and that's fine, but apparently when he attempts at entertaining it's "seeking attention" and apparently it's chanting "I am so... quote too long".

It makes no logical sense.

It is frustrating too when people don't seem to see it, and enable guys like him.

I think you're wrong here again.

Travis is quite far the most disliked housemate. There are very few "enabling him" (not that there is even anything to enable so far).

Interesting post, and such a xifferent way to see the same show.

I need to think about it before answering properly. One point, though, that I thought was particularly interesting was when you mentioned jealousy.

There is an element of that. The comparison with school is made again and again, and I think that can go with watching it too. It can be cathartic to see the people who seem to embody qualities I saw rewarded while other qualities that I value more do not.

You are right. I do find dumb unappealing. But dumb, loud and over-confident is a particularly unattratctive mix for me.

I have no problem with people trying to make good tv. I like good tv. But compare the adroitness of Lawson doing it with Travis's way, and he isn't good enough. Travia was about everyone looking at Trav, I felt. Tim at his worst was like this too, but I've only seen Trav make me cringe, never feel entertained.

Also, I love seeing this over-confident type get evicted. Yeah, I do. It is not jealosy, as I do not want what he has. It is frustration that qualities I see as irrelevant get rewarded. In a small way, seeing a loud-mouthed person who demands attention, while saying nothing beneficial to hear get rejected.... I feel like it helps Australia become a better place somehow. In a small way.

Good chat.
