What do you think David's beard is all about?

What do you think David's beard is all about? He seems pretty adamant to keep it and if Tim had not come in it probably would have stayed.

Is it a gimmick because hipsters are in at the moment?
Is it a defensive mechanism, like he is hiding himself?
Does it make him feel more manly and stronger??
Is it because he's losing the hair on top so growing it on the bottom?
Does he just not care anymore?

Interested to know what you guys think the theory behind the beard is? Its a lot bigger than Dave himself is my assumption.
 
Maybe it's his game plan. Go in with a beard, shave it to gain popularity.

He probably wanted to keep it longer and save it for a desperate last minute grab for attention but that time is probably now anyway.[DOUBLEPOST=1411347728][/DOUBLEPOST]

But he trims it and makes it smell nice? More effort than just shaving.

But he doesnt seem to have grown a beard before this from photos weve seen. Maybe he really does think as a strategy when he shaves it people would be like oh wow he looks like Toby McGuire.

Or maybe he's sick of being compared to Toby?
 
Looks like a Taliban. BB may be invaded by the special police, David may be captured and tortured. Best he shaves it off.

Maybe just the 'nerdy guy who no one notices' thing. Grow a beard to get noticed. Jake does the same thing with the ridiculous clothing and stupid glasses. It's easier than trying to develop a personality.

At least make the beard multi functional

Jakes glasses dont even have lenses in them. Has he ever been seen wearing them before the house? At least David's beard is real... I think?
 
Well David did tell Tim that the beard was what got him onto BB. Maybe we can evict David and keep the beard in...
 
Big beards and moes are in fashion at the moment (there's a player for the Sydney Swans, Dane Rampe - should see his moe. Pretty impressive). I have never understood all the drama when it comes to hair. It's like when a guy has long hair in the BB house - all the comments made that he should cut it off. As is having short hair will somehow change a person, correct any faults real or not. Hair is hair - it doesn't change who a person is. I can't imagine Bill Bailey without long hair and beard. Think David is good looking with or without the beard.
 
I think beards are a demonstration of masculinity.

"Look, I can grow a beard! I'M A MAN!!!"
 
It's made him someone to talk about. It's a conversation starter. And he knows underneath when he shaves it he will reveal a cutie with nice smile and girls will like this big reveal.
