The passing of Nan_Taylor

Hey everyone,

I’m not too sure if I’ll be able to reach everyone who was in contact with her on this page but I wanted to let everybody know that my grandmother, known on here as Nan_Taylor, sadly passed away earlier this year. She was 86 years old.

First of all I must apologise for getting this news to the Behind Big Brother forums so late. In light of all the commiseration, I didn’t think to let the community know sooner.

Secondly, she loved watching the Australian Big Brother series when it was on and she loved making comments on the Behind Big Brother forums. In fact, I made an account last week just to read them and to create this post. I’m still reading some of them even now. Even though her humour was between somewhat and exceedingly abrasive, she was a very funny lady.

Thirdly, I would like to thank everyone involved in the BBB community for making an old lady feel welcome not only as she was trying to navigate forums online but also as she was “Hupping” along as she figured out technology previously unknown to her. Especially in what she would call the “Shit Prime Years” of Big Brother, you were all a great source of comfort to her when she wanted to talk all things BB related.

If anyone is having a glass of wine tonight (or any kind of alcohol, she wouldn’t mind), please raise a glass to her.

Thank you for letting us know. My deepest condolences on your loss.

Your grandmother was a lot of fun and a wonderful character on these forums, and can only imagine what she was like in real life. I am sure she will be missed by many people.

Very sad to hear @The_Grandson but thank you for letting us know. I am very sorry for your loss.

@Nan_Taylor was a very much loved member here. I always thought she was hilarious and I often agreed with her opinions. It is very nice to hear that this community meant so much to her and I am sure the BBB community feels exactly the same way about her. She spoke of you sometimes @The_Grandson and she was very proud of you.

She will be very much missed. Xx

Hey everyone,

Reading all of these kind words, as well as reading some of Nans old posts, have been deeply overwhelming. I cannot thank you all enough for your support.

Even though, she could change tac in the way she converses with others (both with kindness and then telling them how she REALLY feels), she seemed to be a truly valued person in the community.

@Mr Stickyfingers suggested I should stay on the site for now, and I’m definitely considering it. Especially with the new season next year. No one could ever replace her but I can at least represent her in spirit.

I also wanted to share one of my favourite pics with Nan. I saw that she shared some of my wedding photos with you a while back. But she didn’t share this one. It’s the last picture her and I were in together. Enjoy.

Actually no, thats one of my uncles. Nans husband passed almost 20 years ago now.

Am so sad to hear this, so sorry for your loss to you grandson. So sad she is missing the news of this new 10 season coming up she would have been so excited about it, after enduring these channel 7 soap opera versions… So sad she could not get to enjoy real big brother and to share it with us.

I must be honest I did suspect that Nans may have been a role playing account but now hearing the real deal I really would have loved to have met her, she was so incredibly funny and an inspiration to us all RIP Nan

Just reading and finding out about this now. Sad news. It was always good to see her "HUP"s in the posts. A sad shame Nan didn't get to see the latest announcements and news that 10 is revitalizing the series. I am sure she would have really loved and enjoyed to hear that and to watch it. She will be missed ... and her "HUP"s will be missed too. I will certainly raise a wine glass to her.
