Lots of introverts this year?

Is it just me or have there been more introverts than usual this year? Keep in mind that "introverted" does not automatically mean "shy & quiet" (although sometimes it can), but things like:

*a preference to spend time alone or in small groups
*tendency to socialise awkwardly in large groups, 'fade into the background' & dislike being centre of attention
*having a couple of especially close friends & gravitating primarily towards them - quality over quantity
*a tendency to think deeply & often hold one's tongue
*becoming tired & crankI find it quite funny that people say "you're not introverted at all!!!" - that's because I'm NOT like that in small groups of people I know and like and click with...who are (thankfully) few and far between!y after excessive contact with people & needing alone time to reinvigorate oneself

Extroversion doesn't automatically mean "loud & outgoing", but things like:

*becoming agitated when alone and/or socially isolated and needing to socialise to invigorate yourself
*"getting along with everyone"
*charisma & a love for being centre of attention
*being the focal point for conversation, activity or drama
*speaking one's mind

Phew. It's a continuum, but most people sit definitely towards one end or the other. I'd say this year's definite introverts are:

*Sandra
*Dave
*Priya
*Cat
*Gemma

Extroverts:

*Travis
*Leo
*Jason
*Skye

I'm surprised at a)the number of introverted people in this year's bunch and b)the fact that the hms giving us (arguably) the best content aren't the attention-grabbing social ones.

I thought a lot about this too, thinking BB usually puts in lots of extraverts so they interact and clash or whatever.
But isn't Gemma extraverted? She seemed to have no problem speaking her mind/blurted out whatever was on it rather than thinking inwardly a lot about what she would say. Sometimes it's hard to tell though because I think some HMs put on an extraverted act to seem more fun. E.g. Jake? I thought he was extraverted in the first few episodes but then seemed to get tired of being so "up" all the time and retreated into himself and spent a lot of time alone/being quiet during the rest of his time in the house. He wasn't outgoing in groups, sort of faded away.
But also don't you think Leo is introverted? He has only one solid friendship, likes spending time alone and is never really seen talking in big groups. He spends quite a lot of time by himself thinking. Whereas someone like Skye will go and talk to someone else (usually Priya) about what is on her mind, rather than internalising it.

I decided to look at all the HMs from the beginning to weigh up ratios. Let me know if you disagree with any of them!

Introverts:
Aisha
Cat
David
Dion
Jake
Jason
Lawson
Leo
Priya
Richard
Ryan
Sandra

Extraverts:
Gemma
Katie
Lina??????????
Lisa??
Marina
Penny
Sam? Seemed to always hang around a large group of people
Skye
Tom
Travis

12 vs 10?

Yeah Gemma was a mistake lol...wrote the post while under the influence of a sleeping tablet!! I said Leo was an extrovert based on his dislike of being isolated from the group (although this could be more about 'saving face' than his actual personality), and his propensity for talking about himself rather than listening to others...he probably hovers somewhere around the middle. I think Jason and Lawson hover around the middle too.

Have you read: “QUIET: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking"?
Brilliant book.

They all think they're extroverts. They all go in saying they'll speak their minds, someone else does and gets evicted so the shut down.
Didn't happen last year though, picked the right ones maybe?

I think I should read this. Most of us though are ambiverted but lean towards one or the other. As an introverted type I chose to like David, Ryan and Sandra. In some ways a triumvirate from some perspectives at the time?

I think that, given a preference or ideal circumstances, we all lean one way more than the other...but learn to adapt when we have to.
