Human rights issue?

The workers for the BB Hotel challenge had hardly any food, reportedly only got four hours sleep because the lights were left on in the bedroom, and didn’t even get hot water for bathing. Surely this crosses the line?

I was actually wondering if that's why the live stream has been so bad since then. Maybe someone complained about this.

The BB hotel is no where near as bad as the White Room was, which is considered psychological torture in some circles.

Lol, you must be new to big brother...

I watched the first episode in 2001, I watched all the Gretel era live as it happened. I was there for “the incident” in 2003. I’m not new to anything, bubs.

The torment that the workers were put through on this week’s challenge would have got the whole show taken off air had it happened in the Gretel era.

I'm not so sure about that, the OG era had way more endurance type challenges just as bad if not worse than the BB hotel.

One I remember quite well was the (2004 I think?) silent disco task. The housemates were woken up at random hours during the day and night to dance, sometimes for hours at a time and usually when they had been asleep for only an hour or so. It was brutal!

It was their bad attitude more than anything. Lol at torture.

I was surprised at how quickly they caved. All of them are young. You'd think they'd have more stamina than that and get into the spirit of the game. Twenty-four hours is nothing!

It’s honestly all amped up for the cameras. Fatigue and high emotions make them exaggerate how mistreated they feel.

They were offered oats in water, which they refused to eat. Then BB brought in the microwave meals which were probably small, overly processed and high GI (not good for maintaining long term energy).

The sleep was probably the real issue. Hard mattresses and bright lights? Difficult, yes. Illegal and exemplary of human torture. Definitely not.

Any big TV network would have legal experts on hand. I don’t believe any human rights were infringed, but if there was, the network will know how to protect themselves. Any lawsuit will be shot down pretty easily.

I’ll also add that originally they only had hot water for an hour each day. I’m not sure what season they started doing that in. The UK version used to do the same.

In terms of Australia, we had that from the start. This is the second ever Daily Show as archived on the official YT, cued to the right spot. (It's the first scene after the titles if it breaks)

Yeah, I also remember them using "Big Ones" coins to buy hot water in 2002. I'm fairly sure it reverted to the timed hot water system only in 2003, but I'm not 100% sure.
