How do you think Layla would have fared in BBUK?

Just wondering for viewers of BBUK how you think Layla would have gone in the UK's BB? Would she be seen as a Hira figure, nice but boring? Or would she be condemned for having a showmance? Would she be seen as an endearing, bubbly Sophie type figure? For me, I like her, but I think part of that is that she reminds me of BBUK. If she was actually in BBUK, I think I might find her boring than she seems in our BB.

I think a lot of what we find endearing about her is to do with her accent (eg the "they're only joking" lines from tonight's show), but that wouldn't have the same effect on a British audience. The same with John James, his accent did nothing for us, but the UK audience seemed to find it appealing.

How do you think she would fare?
 
BBUK has become so unbelievably ridiculous it isn't funny.

Layla would most likely receive "Get Layla Out!" chants and booes just because she's good looking and has a vagina.

Other HM's I think would be booed are Ray, Benjamin and Sarah. Estelle and Angie would get a mixed reaction. The rest would probably get light to mid cheers.
 
I don't think she would have been chosen for BBUK in the first place - she isn't strange enough. They have had some really unrealistic characters in the past few seasons of BBUK, it is almost cringe-worthy to watch. That being said if Layla had been on BBUK I don't think she would have lasted further than the halfway mark.
 
Sorry to bump an old thread, but the last few days have made me realise just how much Layla is playing this like BBUK. It's not just the playing dumb, it's also the hanging out with the strong group all series, then having an epiphany and switching teams at the end. She's playing it so much like Sophie Reade - giggly dumb blonde, hung out with Lisa/Charlie/Karly/Kris all series, but didn't bitch as much as them, then in the final weeks, switched teams and befriended the underdogs so she looked like the lesser evil and went on to win. She went for the showmance angle too, though she played that better than Layla ie only one person and dumped him when she found out what a jerk he was.

Still, I don't know how she would have fared in BBUK though, where the fans would be more aware to that game?
 
Being a bit Machiavellian here- but did we ever hear why she and her family came to be here in Australia?

Could appearing on BB been part of the motivation? Had she ever tried out for BB UK?

One of the HMs commented she'd never experienced an Aussie summer- so must have arrived post February-
 
In BBUK we kind of expect HM's who hook up to do so on the basis they will see whoever they hook up with on the outside. I don't think we've ever had HM's who say just have fun snuggles. So in Layla's case if she did and said what she did and said about George then within the hour moved onto Sam, that wouldn't have gone down well at all! Although many hate the showmances and on most occassion, no one really believes them in the slightest, but that's the way it seems to go!

I think she will get some fans for the ditzy and not being queen of the bitching, but I think things like 'I don't like it' and 'I don't understand' would annoy people more than feel endeared to her! I'm not sure she would get a lot if interest, but of she stayed as part of the wallpaper or pot plant, she'd go on for a while! The thing that would annoy, is the ditzy thing. Especially as it doesn't seem she is as ditzy as she makes out.

I never heard John James accent was loved particularly. Certainly Layla's accent is annoying and whiney, and HMs who just act up how stupid they are don't tend to win now, and I've always found it annoying anyway. Also the showmances which she tries to pretend are real annoy me too, but they could do well for her on the British version I suppose. The comparisons are more like Alex BB12, Corin BB11 for the stupidity. Louise BB!2 as well as she had a showmance.

The real Sophie comparison is Aleisha from the 7th series which I saw recently, it's spooky how close the comparisons are. I can't be the only one who has noticed that. Pretty similar people, not that dissimilar a journey on the show either. I liked Aleisha more but Sophie was ok in retrospect.

I did read somewhere that she tried out for UKBB
 
I think the thing with Sophie was she never seemed to show at any point she was anything more than a bit educationally challenged (trying to be polite here, not sure why!) She kept up the act until the very end and seeing her on a few shows after, I'm not sure it was really an act. The UK public on forums anyway, tend to have little sympathy for the housemates who haven't got many brains. But Sophie never did anything really bad or nasty, she put on a bit of weight and her hair went to pot, but she dealt with that without much fuss so in a sense it endeared her to people. I wasn't a fan, but she was a 'harmless' HM.

Whereas Layla, hasn't really kept up the ditzy act. She seems very aware of how things are in the house and what moves to make to keep her in there. The fact she does this, wouldn't endear her to the public. They give people who aren't brainy a hard enough time as it is, but pretending to be ditzy, that's a big no no! I think she would've lasted a while by staying in the background and would've known not to do the have George, dump George, have Sam thing. Showmances aren't really a favourite thing either on forums and actually can go against HM's so she would've had to have played that one carefully.

Most of these views are taken from what is said on the UK forums. The forum doesn't always represent what the general public are thinking and BB does seem to keep pushing the showmance line, though they actually went out their way in the last BB, to see if the one showmance that we had, was fake. It pretty much showed the bloke had nabbed a girl because he thought he should and BB then didn't spend much time on it. But it doesn't seem to be that showmances help you win.

I think Layla's blaming other people (Angie and Ben) for the bitchiness, while slagging off her best mate Angie when she got the chance and then laying into Ben, plus other comments re HM's would've gone against her as she clearly can bitch without their help. I don't think she would've won BBUK but as a non OTT character, most probably would've been there for quite a while, maybe even made the final 6, but I couldn't see her winning.

That stupid dumb c*nt Emma Willis gets moist just talking about them.

It's effin RIDICULOUS how much screen time gets devoted to showmances in their version(just ask Aaron who played the game like a PRO[slimey shit that he was] and won his series because of it).

I think over here we are a bit less interested in the showmances. Also John James was a COMPLETE nob and Josie has done better without the lanky streak of piss.

Emma Wilis does indeed love the showmances! BB does seem to want to big them up, which is strange because they don't really help the HM's at all!!! 2011 BB with Aaron was a nightmare for them. There was only a couple of HM's who weren't interested in hooking up. Because of this though, most were in couples and them actually being together was moaned about, but then it just went back to the HM you liked and not the coupling. But on the forums, no ones keen on the showmances. I don't think people love the romances but many expect them to happen. Of course you will always get some people who ship them, but most the time they're not vote winners. It tends to come down to the individual HM than the actual couple. When Kris go it on with Sophie, it totally went against him and he was evicted. Luke S and Ashleigh (last BBUK) relationship had no effect whatsoever. I think showing us Ashleigh clearing off his 'residue' from her stomach after she gave him a late night tug, didn't endear them to anyone!!!!

So it normally is a case of let's guess who will hook up, but when push comes to shove, showmances don't win the show in BBUK.
