Halfway house concept

Is anyone else already sick of the halfway house concept? I feel that it's just doing more harm than good for the ratings / interest in the show.

No relationships in the house have a chance to develop at a decent rate - for example ed and jade. I understand that the whole point is to cause tension and friction but for me it's just making the show less enjoyable. I would assume that at least two of the most recent nominees will be up for eviction again and will spend another week in the halfway house it just doesn't make for interesting viewing.

What's your thoughts?

Yeah there is some good points to it but also some bad points.
For me the good points like causing some tension outweigh the bad points for having it.

I feel like it's not a great twist coz it was never enforced like it should've been. Within a day they were allowed next door for a task. Also we never really saw much complaining... most of them just dealed with it. I feel like if it was girls or guys only on one side it would be more entertaining because the girls would've gotten really bugged with eachother and just get pissy whilst the boys would've been different

I've said elsewhere, but at the risk of repeating myself. I like the concept. However I ink it would have been better executed from after the first noms (ie week 2) giving the HMs a chance to integrate first.

I have a sneaking suspicion we only have 2 weeks left with the halfway house anyway.

I have just read your first sentence and I say, Oh Yes I am sick of the halfway house. I want to see them all together not 2 groups

I'm also ready for it to be taken down, at the start I thought 4 weeks would be long enough but even now its too long.

The house feels so cluttered and claustrophobic cause of it and it really comes through in the show as well makes it feel so unbalanced how we see majority of one side all the time (or so it feels). I appreciate what they've done and I did like the twist but its time to bring them all together.

Nooooooo don't change it yet! Put Tully in there for another 2 weeks (preferably by herself or just together with Mikayla) then change it.

In all seriousness I also say to take it away. I want to see them all interact and see who form clique with who. Its also obvious that some are more affected by it than others.

truthfully I am finding it more interesting as it is causing certain relationships to happen. I am the opposite i find it fun to see how Jade plays Drew on her side and then Ed through the fence. The developed friendship with Drew and Tim became stronger. Though was interesting to see how the Heidi Tim friendship fell off right after she went over there bitching how she did not belong 9when she had the same votes as Tim). I think this week will be more drama as all the halfway house will have been voted in there as last week 2 had the knowledge that there were no votes for them.

I feel like it would have been a much better concept down the road... not in in the beginning. We need to see the housemates interact.

I agree.

The same bunch of people will be nominated each week just because those in the safe house didn't get to know them better.

That's just ridiculous.

I did agree until tonight. Now I actually think it's a really good concept and it works as one that is implemented from the start.
I like the fact that there are 6 housemates up for elimination, rather than three. Putting 6 housemates in the halfway house each week who are up for eviction means that those 'underdog' type bonds can be formed. I think too that with the reduced ease of interaction between the safe and halfway housemates we will be seeing a better mix of people up for eviction - the safe people will possibly be more inclined to nominate each other because they will be spending more time around one another.

It would probably be less effective once the number drops to 12 or so and half the house is in there (assuming BB doesn't switch things up). But for the next month or so I think it's a really good idea.

Oh and also I like that they can't form bonds - I think it has influenced everyone to be more strategic with nominating from the get-go rather than forming cliques from day one. Everyone seems to be thinking for themselves and about the game - moreso than I remember last year.

Interesting way of looking at. Whilst I don't see it the same way as you I do understand where you're coming from. Also the fact that when Sharon was evicted she had to leave on her own through the half way house was such an anti-climax. It's a lot more exciting when the housemates are able to rally around the evictee and carry them to the door etc.

Not a fan. No point to it. They should be together. Nothing will ever beat the Reggie year, best BB ever. This bullshit of trying to come up with different things twists is not working. Piss the games off. Just put 16 in a house and see what they get up to. You can't beat human nature.

Yet you seem to forget in Reggie's year the housemates were completely divided for almost a month.

I can't remember that. Mainly remember the mix of people that year worked. I guess it doesn't matter what what BB does the success relies with the talent

But they didn't switch sides and they nominated within their own house. The relationship growth was nowhere near as disjointed as it is this year; and so, really, we had two "first week"s that year - firstly the official one with round house / square house mingling within their own, then another one around the time interest usually drops in a series with the two houses intermingling.

The same bunch of people will be nominated each week just because those in the safe house didn't get to know them better.

Except that it hasn't turned out that way. So far, in the two nominations, the Halfway House was filled almost exclusively with people who were in the Safehouse the previous week.

The split house has created an interesting dynamic in that when people live in the Safehouse they seem to become jerks and that gets them voted into the Halfway House the next week. I think that the concept is working out just fine.
