Episode Day 33 (30th August 13) 30min Daily Show

Okay, so I took the time to transcribe the full scene from the official website's original video to make a point about how the Daily Show slightly manipulated it to make Drew come out looking slightly worse than he should have.

The thing that bothered me about this scene in tonight's episode is that the bits they edited out of the Daily Show conveniently went in Tully's favour, particularity by removing her swearing before Drew did and by cutting out Tully calling Drew a jerk. Both HM's should have been shown equally during that argument, bleeped or not.

Only a small percentage of viewers would have seen the original footage online so they wouldn't have seen Tully's initial reaction to the argument. It's little pieces of editing like this that effectively changes the way viewers can perceive a scene when shown out of context.

Below is the full transcript from the original video with what was shown on the Daily Show. Note that the lines in red are the quotes that were removed from the Daily Show version. By reading it in its full context and by seeing which sentences were deleted from the aired version, you can clearly see how it could appear that little bit differently.

Here's the full version (with the lines missing from the Daily Show written in red):

Tully: You were bitching about me all day.
Drew: All day? ... Care to explain?
Tully: No. Do you want to explain?
Drew: I'll tell you what I heard.
Tully: What you heard? Mate, you were in the conversation.
Drew: No. Were you there?
Tully: No, I wasn't there. Obviously. Have I seen you all day, have you said two words to me all day? No.
Drew: Are you kidding me? ... Why does it...what do you mean have I seen you all day?
Tully: Have - you - said - two words to me - all day?
Drew: We sat together during the game show thing.
Tully: Oh yeah and we definitely had a great chat then.
Drew: And we sat down--

Tully: I don't give a shit, Drew. Okay...like...I don't give a shit. I don't like being spoken about behind my back, especially when it's you.
Drew: You know what? I said about two words to her.
Tahan: It's just me, guys.
Drew: It's all right.
Tahan: Okay.
Drew: You wanna hear what I heard?
Tully: No, I don't really, 'cause you've just--
Drew: No, it's fine, I mean, like--
Tully: You've just like...I don't know why I expected any different.
Drew: Oh all right, well I'm just gonna start speaking--
Tully: And of-course Tim has to be the one to let me know.
Tahan: Do you want me to like...go?
Tully: Maybe, Tahan.
Tahan: Sorry.
Drew: Doesn't matter.
Tahan: Okay.
Drew: Um...all right, well I'll tell you what I got told and then--
Tully: No. I...I just.

Drew: I don't...all right, well what do you...what do you think I said about you?
Tully: I have no idea. I just got the idea that you--
Drew: So how can you be angry at me?
Tully: The idea that you were talking about me to somebody else--
Drew: If a conversation comes to me do I just like stop talking?
Tully: Obviously not. Just like how you don't...shit...you say one thing to me and to Tim and to everybody else, and then you go and do another, do you realize--
Drew: What the fuck are you talking about?
Tully: Why are you talking to me like that?
Drew: Because you're talking to me like that and you're not even listening! You don't wanna hear what I have to say! And you don't even know what happened--
Tully: Don't fucking talk to me like that! Are you serious?
Drew: You're talking to me like that! I'm talking to you exactly--
Tully: Don't swear at me! Have I sworn at you?
Drew: Alright, this is what happened. Jade came up to me and said, alright--
Tully: Do you wanna keep your voice down because we live in a house with like seventeen people?
Drew: Oh... you afraid the cameras are gonna hear?
Tully: No! I'm afraid other people are gonna walk in and hear a conversation that's not meant for them.
Drew: So you wanna talk...behind...people's backs?
Tully: Oh but that's what you've been doing, so.
Drew: Well, apparently it's not allowed. All right, Jade came up to me--
Tully: Oh my god, you're a fucking jerk sometimes!

Drew: --Jade came up to me and said everyone's talking about ME, so people were talking behind MY back and saying that "every time Tully has a problem, you run after her and look after her and it's not doing you any favours". And I had no idea... and I was more shocked that people were talking behind my back and getting involved with things that doesn't even concern them.
Tully: How often do I have problems?
Drew: I don't know, I'm not the one saying you do. As far as I'm concerned, I was just looking after you whenever you were upset.
Tully: Well, that's generally what friends do.
Drew: So, what's the problem? ... So that conversation came to me and what about am I supposed to do, just shut off?
Tully: What did you say? What did you say?!
Drew: Well, I said I had no idea people were talking about me or felt that way at all. And I--
Tully: Did you ask who it was?
Drew: --and you know what I said? I said--
Tully: Did you ask who it was?
Drew: I don't know why I'm the only one that looks after her when she's upset because when you're upset after Showdown, Matt said to me in the bathroom "this is your mess, bro, you're gonna have to clean this one up". ... So... don't fucking put it all on me.
Tully: Can you come back here Drew? Ugh! ... Drew!
Drew: Go away.
Tully: Don't tell me to go away.
Drew: I don't wanna talk to you. ... Don't get me in public.

And that's that.

Good lord, get a life! Maybe it was edited that way cause it was a PG rated time slot and even if the swearing was bleeped we dont need to hear a conversation like that at a family time.

Its just another case of someone she thought she was close to stabbing her in the back (yes its a game and she may be deluded in thinking she has friends in there) and she pulled him up on it.

haha yes... so they edited out Tully's 3 instances of saying 'shit' which they bleeped on the live feed but not Drew saying 'fuck'. Your buddy above told me SHIT wasn't a swear word so you're saying SHIT can't make the PG time slot but FUCK can? The same SHIT that Tully said THREE TIMES to Drew before she cried to him about swearing? Come the fuck on now. Seriously wtf is wrong with admitting when your favourite has been a shithead as l.a.r.a. has done? Or what is wrong with acknowledging that your favourite's friends are now jumping ship because even they're uncomfortable with what they see? Be a true fan befitting your age and intellect and not one reflecting the Belieber genre.

Drew: What the fuck are you talking about?
Tully: Why are you talking to me like that?

Tell me how you can edit that without it not making sense as opposed to the filtering of swear words when possible?

HELLO ALEX & FELLOW PRODUCERS

Please change your programming to include a Sunday show. Just a half hour would be better than nothing... sum up the weekend so far. You can fit it in to your schedule!

PS: Switch it to Gem on weekends, then we can have a Saturday and Sunday show.
They have been showing The Ashes cricket on Gem and that got an audience.

Did Ben appear in the tonights ep at all? I don't recall seeing him.

Thank goodness we haven't seen him talking to his photos of his mom and his nan for a a couple of days. I think that's on the verge of cheating and communicating with the outside world, yet we haven't seen him pulled up for it. I reckon if BB confiscated his photos unless he does all the cooking for one day, he would burst into tears and want to go home.

as someone who knew nothing at all of the fight before seeing the daily show today, i saw tully as being in the wrong, not drew at all, so i dunno how others saw the opposite...?
she clearly jumped on him, trying to accuse him of things he hadnt done, and when trying to explain what really happened, she just wouldnt listen and proceeds to jump down his throat for no reason, resulting in him getting so frustrated that he leaves
i honestly have no bloody clue as how anyone could see it any differently, so if anyone could explain...?

all i have to say is: bravo tim! i hate him, but fuck that was good...

Drew: What the fuck are you talking about?
Tully: Why are you talking to me like that?

Tell me how you can edit that without it not making sense as opposed to the filtering of swear words when possible?

You can say: What are you talking about? Considering they somehow felt fit to edit out "I don't give a shit, Drew. Okay...like...I don't give a shit" leaving just one sentence and "Obviously not. Just like how you don't...shit..." leaving half of one. They left FRAGMENTED SENTENCES to satisfy the edit.

Seriously, you're not doing Tully any favours here. She started swearing at him before he did. We called the EXACT concern about dodgy editing the second the preview was shown before the ad break. Documented in this thread.

Don't patronise us with this other BS. She swore, 3 times, a word as apparently as meek as SHIT as said by your co wingnut and yet Drew's FUCK had to stay in according to you. Stop embarrassing yourself.

I think he is banking on an Estelle vs Ben type situation to get him ahead. Neither Estelle or Ben would have got as far as they did without the other. Ben going against Estelle made people want to save her to spite him, the more Estelle survived, the more people threw their support behind anybody but her to win. Estelle was regularly booed by the eviction crowds when she survived, but she still survived.

Tully survived that double eviction. That's enough for Tim to know that she has support out there, enough support to place her above two others in a pool of 6. Make Tully the enemy and the centre of attention, and maybe she'll get enough support to keep her in in spite of all the people who hate her. Keep Tully in and make her your nemesis and suddenly all that hatred for her becomes your support. Vote for neutrals who cannot be manipulated like the others and who therefore pose a threat to your source of power alongside your emotionally manipulable Tully and watch them get evicted - it worked with Xavier (you got that, Tully?), now maybe it can work this week with Caleb.

Tully is only useful to Tim when she gives him that moody reaction. It's what he uses to get the public on his side. What he's hoping for is that the public will think of him as the hero who gives the disliked Tully her comeuppance, but that she'll still earn enough support from all the attention to keep her in the house where she is available and ready to exploit.

Excellent post, Mercy, you're no doubt spot on regarding Tully's function in Tim's workings.

So, I fell asleep and missed out on watching the show at normal time tonight but I wanted to comment on a few things.

The whole Jade/Drew/Tim/Tully situation is silly. Tim is being manipulative, but he's entertaining. I love him. Tully needs to relax a bit and not take everything to heart. She knows how manipulative Tim is, why believe a word he says without asking Drew? Drew who is SUPPOSED to be her friend. Wouldn't you take his word over anything Tim says?

Jade needs to get some longer shorts. Shorts that show off your arse cheeks are not shorts - they're underwear.

As for the whole Katie & Lucy vs Tahan situation. Well. Lucy said "Can we have pancakes outside please?" not "We will have our pancakes outside" like Tahan said. Lucy did say she said "Are you making pancakes?" which she didn't - that we saw. That could have been before. They both got muddled up. I'm a fan of the sisters. I don't like Tahan. She just seems like a bitch and whinges about her hair dryer, etc. She seems to attack those she sees as weaker than her. She's a mean girl. Tahan says "I've tried being nice to them." Well I haven't seem you attempt to be nice to anyone. I suppose making pancakes for Ben is nice. But bloody hell. Ben needs to start looking after himself. He's 30. He can bloody well make his own damn food.

Edit: Just wanted to say that I have been rethinking the whole Katie & Lucy vs Tahan situation. I think that what some people have said is right in that both parties are on kindling with the other so any little thing makes it blow up. The sisters did backtrack a bit, trying to blame Tim & Heidi for wanting the pancakes. But I still prefer them than Tahan. Tahan is on my 'meh' pile being that I don't dislike her enough to want her evicted but I wouldn't care if she was.

I watched this online today and thought the same thing. Are they living out of suitcases?

I think Tim is the only one that actually has settled into the house and put his clothes in the cupboard. I can remember Tims Faux birthday and he was taking clothes out of the cupboard for the others to try on. Also with Tully's obsession to re pack her bags constantly to me says an underlying issue of never "settling". she might be one of those girls that continually threaten to "leave home" when things are not going her way. It's an added attention seeking action.

The word "shit" does not really count as a swearword used against someone, so, no, I don't see your point.

Nice attempt at rewriting basic language in order to win a debate. But it's a fail! Shit is a swear word. End of.

What do you think of the adrenalin junkie theory? I think possibly it's part of Tim's motivation, he loves the knife edge.

And Sergei you did sum things up nicely.

I think Tim wants media exposure which will lead to work after the show and while winning would be a bonus it isn't his main motivation. He understands there are many variables he can't control. Most of the HMs have the desperate hunger to win they are attributing to him but they are maintaining the stock mealy-mouthed pretense of being there purely for the experience.

Its just another case of someone she thought she was close to stabbing her in the back (yes its a game and she may be deluded in thinking she has friends in there) and she pulled him up on it.

Only someone who was recklessly willing to go along with her self-obsessed narcissistic delusions could conclude he was stabbing her in the back. She abused and accused him, and then she played the victim. It was ugly and pathetic behaviour that showed her in the worst possible light.

I've noticed that Tully supporters are every bit as unappealing as she is! Everything that Tully does in the house and everything that her supporters do outside makes it less and less likely she will survive Monday!

So keep making these charming comments, I'm sure Tully will thank you in person on Monday!

Okay Honey, I'm just going to interject right here. I've read this entire thread up to this point and every single one of your posts mentions Tully (or refers to her) at least once.

What do you think that say about the people who read your posts? My opinion; If Tully isn't popular then she is still certainly interesting. She is arguably one of the most talked about people in the house at the moment.

Your posts simply prove thy fact.

I just watched the repeat, and I'm dumbfounded why so many posters are turning on Drew - you still really have no clue what he's up to, give him a minute to breathe and sort out what is going on.

I now know Jade is nice girl, a likeable girl - and Ed is a total prick. Heidi is beyond repulsive.

Tahan is a victim for having a good sense of humour and daring to be fun as well as beautiful - those sinister sisters are evil; talk about a sick set up, co-dependant/passive aggressive, poor little me crap, meatheads are wrapped around the stubby fingers.
Liar, liar pants on fire Lucy - no you did not ask if pancakes are being made for all, you ordered yours be served outside.

All those, I'm on to you Tim Hms are dickheads, they simply cannot fathom another point of view - and Tim is an adrenaline junkie needing a fix, eviction, he's not certain nobody can be you fuckwits he just doesn't care. That would probably shit them even more to face that.

Would adore for Tim to come prancing out, and the ratings die - he has to come back and they have to kiss his feet; and then he's made compere after he wins.

I may have to rethink after they stop flipping out, but for goodness sakes they are behaving like jerks.

Oh and Tully - needs to get the adult relationship section of Roget Thesaurus and memorise it, her conversations are laughable they are so juvenile.
It's beyond me how they don't laugh in her face, 14 year olds talk like Tully, huff like Tully, sulk and hunch and glump about just like her, they also argue like shit like her - no substance just moods

I agree 100% well written

Thanks - no worries guys. It took me a fair while but it needed to be done! :p

You are incredible. Thank you. That really highlights that the producers do want Tully to stay and I think she will. I still think it doesn't show her in a positive light but now I see the daily show version can make some feel sorry for her, well more than the live feed version.

What do you think of the adrenalin junkie theory? I think possibly it's part of Tim's motivation, he loves the knife edge.

yeah, there's possibly some truth to that. he certainly seems to get a buzz off stirring trouble. i'd be curious to know if he was into some extreme sports in his normal life. I noticed him running on friday's show - some long-distance runners I've known have commented on the euphoria of "breaking through the wall", so that could fit
