Big Brother Malta launches in 2025

I'm not sure if they really use the American format. But you can't trust Banijay (or the very least their PR department) to know their formats. The line you refer to ("the contestants battle to evade eviction by fellow houseguests") is directly from Banijay's press release. But almost every of their Big Brother press releases claims that houseguests evict themselves.

Like the one for Nigeria:
Competing for a grand cash prize, each week the houseguests battle in a series of challenges, voting each other out until the fate of the final two are decided by a jury of fellow houseguests.

None of them had houseguests evicting each other... the recent All-Stars season in Nigeria tried a different format for a couple of weeks though, where housemates nominated each other for immunity, then the public voted on their favourites and a jury of former housemates (who were not housemates on the All-Stars season) decided who from the bottom two should be evicted. Wasn't very popular though.
