Yeah, I would think so, too. I guess that production is aware of this issue, too. This year’s TV show is clearly modelled after Promi Big Brother, just on a smaller scale and with some elements of the nightly spin-off.
I’ve read that the research project that they’ve advertised on Instagram came to an end. As I said before, there hasn’t been any major changes. So I’m not sure if they aren’t really interested in changing anything or if the feedback was just not valuable enough. I wouldn’t be surprised if German viewers as a whole don’t even know what they want (as evidenced by the fact that season 5 is probably the most popular season despite introducing a lot of crappy ideas that people rightfully criticised in later seasons).
If there is another civilian season, they should invite a bunch of fans to their offices and do a workshop a couple of weeks before the season starts, so they can make adjustments before the season starts. Might result in a better outcome than doing it once the season launched and when people already dropped out of the show.

The other day, the head of Joyn pretty much confirmed what I’ve always been thinking: That last year’s season wasn’t that successful and that a lot of the success numbers are just creative calculations.
In an interview he said that last year’s season lost steam after a brilliant start and that’s why they’ve cut the length of the season. That contradicts their whole "it became more and more successful as their season went on" stick. Average viewing time of the live feeds might have increased, but that’s because they lost casuals who might have watched an hour a day. The remaining hardcore fans would then drive up the average watch time even if they watch less themselves.
Otherwise: He doesn’t want to give out any numbers for the current season other than the celebrity guests driving up viewership when they move in. That basically means that he can’t find any spin to sell the season as a success.
Right now it’s not even in Joyn’s Top 10 list.
Final blow to Big Brother might happen in fall when Joyn will premier The Power, which is produced by a sister company. It uses celebrities (or more likely: influencers and reality stars) as housemates and will probably do better just because they make use of all the typical Big Brother twists around the world that The Power used in France but that BB Germany is not using for some reason.

The finale just ended and it was probably the most soulless finale ever. They had the ex-housemates back in front of the house, but they were mainly decoration. Three people were asked who they wanted to win, that's it. No individual best bits either.
And after finishing 2nd twice, Marcel has now left the house as a winner. And having the reality star from yesterday winning the season that was supposed to be about finding the reality stars of tomorrow, might be the best way to describe the season.
I think I've never watched a season where the viewers voted so consistently against production's wishes. No word yet on another civilian season. But Promi Big Brother will follow later this year.
