BB1 Housemates - Your Thoughts?

What were your thoughts of the BB1 Housemates?

I was in love with Jemma (in a non-sexual way obviously). I didn't get why people liked Sara-Marie until I watched bits and pieces online recently. Johnnie seemed fake - telling everyone he loved them. Looking back, I don't know why Ben won.

I can't really answer, I only watched the end of the series after the intruders came in. It's too long ago for me to remember anyway, though I remember wanting Sara-Marie to win.

Sarah Marie. That big fat untapebtwe piece of crap nobody bum dance fuckwit. She is a waste of oxygen

I think the BB1 housemates were the most genuine as they did not have previous series to watch and 'prepare' themselves before entering the house. Since then, subsequent series HMs and also viewers have compared personalities and situations to those that had gone before. That often complicates things and HMs know what type of behaviour would get them noticed, and the types that would have them under the bloody radar!!

This ^^^.

The first season housemates were more naive and didn't really know how they, and the whole series, would be presented as they hadn't watched it before. (Apparently Jemma had prepared, by watching tapes of BB UK.)

I recall the BB1 housemates never really knew what to expect of evictions, and as the series progressed, were getting a bit flipped out by the increasingly loud cheering on eviction nights. (No one - including the housemates- had any idea if the series would work in Australia; when it did become popular the housemates in the house didn't know for sure if it was really popular or rating well.)

I liked Sara-Marie and Christina, personally. At the time there was criticism that Johnnie was unpopular because he was gay. I am a gay man myself; I didn't really like Johnnie because even in the first ever week of Big Brother Australia series 1, I watched him and thought he seemed a bit forced and fake some of the time. He delivered polite but bland platitudes to housemates, but often didn't really actually say much. I didn't hate him, but he wasn't my favourite.

Johnnie and then Jemma were evicted in landslides in the two consecutive weeks after Christina walked into the bathroom and caught them discussing nominations (they both agreed that Christina would be nominated that week. Hmmmmmm...) Jemma and Johnnie got a major dressing down from Big Brother over that but in my opinion what was worse was when Christina asked them what they were saying they denied that they had said it.

I didn't know Jemma was the only one who "prepared" but I'm not surprised as I remember her always putting clothing or some kind of material over her crotch if she was lying in a compromising position.... like she assumed they were going to zoom up on her bits or something LOL

Loved season one. Real people, real conversations, real personality conflicts. Not just bitching for the sake of bitching. Watching Sara Marie's breasts on Uncut was a highlight.
