My take on it was a) it was better than what is shown on 7, and b) Alex M loved Big Brother but was hamstrung by the family-friendly desires of 9.

Whoever pays the piper calls the tune, i am afraid.

"My hands were tied" was just Alex pathetically trying to have his cake and eat it too. If he was really that unhappy with the constraints Nine put on him there's absolutely no way he would have stayed on for the entire run.

I read through it, very interesting insights into the inner workings of the then big brother producers mind, and it even raised some issues that us big brother fans still raise today (such as of older people in casting).
