If a couple is to quit surely it's better all round for them to quit in the first week and give somebody else a chance rather than for it to happen a few weeks in when bringing in replacements to finish another teams work wouldn't really sit well with viewers.

Hadn't heard that rumour. Although nobody would ever admit this I suspect the main reason Emma didn't get it was because she was pregnant and it was due very close to the end of their first series. Indeed not sure if Emma had to bail early from the series.

I do think it's worth remembering that apart from the live elements that thanks to the live feed, 24/7 news cycle and forums like this place with the older series of Big Brother it was very rare to go into the episodes spoiler free.

Sometimes leaving viewers wanting more is a good thing - BB Canada being just 10 weeks is probably always one or two weeks too short, but it means it moves along at a nice pace and doesn't drag out like the 100 day BBUSA series have in recent years - though they've chopped a couple of weeks off...

It's the first show though - for the ones that go through they've got to milk this for weeks and ensure it isn't obvious to the viewers from show 1 who is who. More cryptic stuff like the Big Brother clue (he was on Celeb BB in the UK) is how you start things.

I doubt they will as it required too much imagination and effort but the only justification for casting only singles IMO is if you have a twist where initially they're coupled up and play as duos.
