I think it's just something they decided to do, but the others had all done something (be it making the beds and tidying up the bedroom, tidying up the kitchen, mopping the floors, vaccuming the floors or whatever) that they decided Colin should be responsible for something.

This is a house full of people that are all kinda over each other, so I think the vibes are a bit different as a result.
