Finale Alert! Happening 8 December

Eh. Agree. Kinda. 2014 still had the DNA of what I was expecting this year. So far 9 has a bit of an edge on Ten 2.0.
2012-2013 I’d agree with. What we were served in 2014 though was definitely worse than currently.

Don’t forget how diluted the footage coming out of the house was at the time, the constantly changing broadcast schedule, and only getting 2-3 supersized episodes a week while going 70% of each week without a new ep or any information coming from the house.

Obviously 2020-2023 was the worst out of all.

I think 2014 takes the edge over 2025 thanks to editing as well as length. Overall this season is no where near as good as 2012/2013 or any of the original era seasons.
Good point. What I was implying (poorly) was 2014, think of it what you will, still retained core elements and BBAU DNA missing this year. I’m not saying 2014 was good, and the show being canceled was not surprising. I lean slightly towards 2014 simply because of this.

Despite my post history here, I’ll admit this year isn’t terrible and is definitely better than Channel 7 by a long shot. It’s just not what was advertised or promised. The content is there this year, it’s just being presented and directed so poorly. Something is… missing and misplaced. I penned and sent a feedback letter to ESA and Ten which I plan on posting here eventually which I think highlights these missing elements. None of the recipients have replied, which I’m not surprised by. This year is giving Channel 7 manufactured drama, editing and manipulation in a live format which I think is part of its achilles heel.

Given there’s no crew credits I wouldn’t be surprised if a decent chunk of decision makers from the 7 era are back in the drivers seat.

I do agree with you on that front, 2014 was horrible from a broadcast/scheduling point of view but yes it did still have that BB DNA you speak of. At least there were live evictions in the studio with interviews and highlights packages.

Nothing can be worse than 7's BB. I have been enjoying it for what it is.
Personal opinion. Enjoying it for what it is isn’t enjoying it because it’s actually good. I’m enjoying it for what it is too because I love BBAU and I see potential in what it could and should be. Honestly the live feed is the saving grace. But that doesn’t mean it’s actually a good reboot. Mediocre is mediocre. Each day has parts I like and many more parts that are frustrating.

For a short season it’s fine. But if Endemol Shine and Ten see this as hugely successful and make no attempt to change and improve the issues it’s going to be a disappointing [extended] run in 2026.

TL;DR being that my issues mostly lay with the general production, editing style and blatant interference.

yes I feel like this pretty universal too atm. I can at least appreciate that TEN have done well with whats been presented to them, 6 nights a week plus the live stream is A+ stuff. I think most of my issues right now are coming straight from Endemole shine themselves. I want to hope that conversations are happening, but disappointment seems more likely.

Off topic I'm surprised no one has let the housemates know there is only 2 weeks left via the rides. It's a piece of info that could change the whole show.

They knew before we did. They’ve been talking about it on the stream. They’re expecting December 12-13, but same thing really. It was in their contracts.

They’ve done a good job this season with the resources they had. You can see the team pushed a lean setup. But if they want next year to feel like real Big Brother again, they need to get back to basics.

No “off days”, and definitely no calling Big Brother “Brev”. Big Brother should be the one figure in the house who is always in control. When he starts sounding like a mate, the format loses its edge.

A bigger budget would make a massive difference. More producers, more crew and more story staff would keep the house tighter. That means rules get enforced properly, the tone stays consistent and the show doesn’t have rest days for overworked crew.

Housemates can still enjoy themselves, but if they don’t like the rules or the pressure that comes with the format, that’s part of the experience. Get on with it.

The eviction area is something they’ve absolutely nailed. The size is right. Any bigger and it would lose the atmosphere.

👀 who are you and what do you know? You intrigue me.

Also, I disagree they’ve nailed the eviction area. Sure, thousands of fans aren’t needed, but the eviction area is too small imo, the stage needs to be a bit bigger for adequate space, it needs a couch or chairs for interviews and it needs a damn roof or covering.

The live stream still means it trumps the Nine series for me.
I'm with you. We've been granted the access we've been denied since 2008, which gives us a much better view of what's actually going on, and the ability to call out the manipulative editing of the Daily Gaslights Shows. We can only hope they continue to offer the feed for future seasons, stop treating the show like Love Island, and return to the original rules for HM behaviour. And move/protect the house from outside interference. And cast some likeable HMs next time!

OK there's a few things that need work, but you can't beat that live aspect and being able to tune in and see what's happening any time,

Next season I'd really want some sort of catwalk for the evicted housemates to walk down before they get to the stage

i honestly believe they did a good job with casting this year. you are going to need people who stir the pot. and people we love to hate. Its part of the tv show. If you just had a bunch of likable people the show would be boring

Problem is the mix. There's barely a likeable HM amongst them - and the ones that are nice are also boring (Emily, Alanna). I don't want to watch a house full of meat heads bullying and arguing with other HMs. They need some fabulous HMs, but there's not a single one to root for.

Exactly, I agree that having dislikable and argumentative housemates is part of a good cast, but you need likeable people too. A cast like this would thrive on a vote to evict format because every time voting has come around I've said "I literally want them all gone".
