Episode Day 1 (9/11/2025) - Launch

Just catching up and reading the thread as I watch.

First off, the launch seems rushed. The editing a bit jarring. I miss the old housemate packages.

The house leaves a lot to be desired. Way too ITV. Too ITV.

The housemates seem like a decent bunch though!

I can’t stand the first person BB and backing music. It’s not OG in the slightest. 10 producers, are you listening? Cut that crap.

Mikes narration voice seems more polished. It’s a bit weird actually. The ITV style twist with the bags is meh. I hope they find their groove in the coming days.

I really hope they educate Michael with woke actually means. I can’t stand Middle Ages white straight (well as they say) men who think they control the world.

Mia is the type of diva I hang with.

I think they got the casting perfect this year. Let the games begin

It not really giving me the OG vibes other than location. I didnt mind the cast.in 2025 people are soo different to the OG cast era. Have to get that out of my head never going to be the same. When they were in the diary room talking to big brother for the first time as a group. the music they played over was just shit. I didnt really notice the rest of the episodes, but dont want that crap. And Leon sounds different this time, like hes trying something new with his voice?

also whats the go with holly, I thought they said no influencers, the producers must see something we dont? is the a real person. I dont know I was suprised to find out
Yes they seemed to revert on their promise of no influencers. Overall I don’t hate the cast.

Leon supposedly isn’t back after backlash from his initial announcement. We were hearing Pete make his return. It sounds like he’s going to be the main voice, likely dubbed in over each episode. The first person BB and backing music kills the vibe. It’s a small thing but absolutely destroys the illusion and is a far cry from the OG format we were promised.

It’s ironic that ITV took elements from 7s BB and now the rebooted format is borrowing from ITVs format in an effort to distance themself from 7s version. Doesn’t make sense.

Interesting reading back a few pages of here and how many times the word 'vibes' is being used because that was my main takeaway too. The vibes are off, so far.
The housemates seem alright, but every part of the house feels like a set and nowhere feels like an actual house - it's very jarring coming off the back of my BB05 binge in the last week or two.
I don't miiiiiiind Mel as host, she was fine - but again, the vibes are wrong. Gretel always had this supportive but judging mother-figure vibe about her, like she was checking in on the kids while she was away. You're not going to ever get close to that with such a young host.

Mel is only 3 years younger than Gretel was in 2001

There was something very off about the start, great first package, but when they did the drone shot (which seemed busy/cluttered), and the opening sequence it seemed very stiff.

The rain fucked with things a lot tbh. I personally think the editing may have been a bit jarring due to the angles of the cameras when housemates arrived.

The steadicam would be walking in front of the HM as they walked through the crowd, then would do a 180 to follow from behind, but when they spun, it was facing towards where I was standing and there was no one behind me lol so it would've looked worse, and had they spun the other way you'd have seen the camera crane, so neither was great. It's not the most ideal set up, but they managed to put together enough to make it work.

The opening was very rushed, I feel if more people were there (they definitely underestimated the capacity) more audience shots could've been utilised for the opening sequence, but the continuity wouldn't have been there due to everyone wearing ponchos when they filmed a few pickup shots later on. Also no shots of the Fan Pit, might get some tonight if more people go.

Mel as host went pretty good for her first proper live gig, but she'll get better as she goes and will find her groove. It's just a shame the rain messed with the whole vibe.

I didn't get the Diary Room scenes where they'd cut to the door then back to the HM inside, back to the door, etc. It's like we know they're in the Diary Room... and the doors are boring to look at.

It's not proper OG, but it's the best thing we've been given since the 7 era.

If there's underscore music in tonight's DS I'll cry. Just lose it, and we'll be a step closer to OG.

This. If they cut that and the first person big brother persona it’ll feel more like what we remember. The music underscores just adds a gimmicky love island aspect.

I also thought that the crowd was just too small. The applause and chaotic aspect of the larger crowd not being there created a massive void. There wasn’t the “response” to Mel and new housemates that I was almost expecting. It was quite tame and a little lackluster. The cut aways to the audience members was reminiscent of a Tim and Eric sketch.

Reggie and Rod Morris were on social media via their podcast stream last night, and kept waiting for Gretel to appear at Launch. They clearly know her and the production well. They seemed to have heard prior to expect an interview with her towards the end of the first episode. Thought that was interesting… did the rain fuck this up?

Also, Rod well and truly made it clear multiple times (with many expletives) about how he felt about Leon being let go. Never divulged any details, but was very aggressive about the new voice. …I have a feeling we are actually the reason got Leon fired, lol…

If they listened to us regarding Leon hopefully they’re listening to some of the feedback we’re giving.

Yes as soon as he was like "What do you think of my new house?" Or whatever was said, I absolutely cringed.

I can tell you now the audience audio definitely didn't line up with what I heard on the night, so editing definitely needs a bit of TLC, as it was all over the place 🤣 I swear I even heard audio from the OG audience haha.
