BBAU 2025: Casting open, return to Dreamworld Confirmed

I remember some job ads being posted that said early nov-early dec mainly for editors iirc but I hadn’t seen the set designer job ad
oh yeah, sorry it was the scenic painter job I was thinking of that goes to 19 December. That was a very specific date.

Do you think it will be a return to no nomination talk or will strategy be allowed?
It is confirmed that housemates will not be able to do nomination/strategy talk, which I am really pleased about because the strategy talk on Ch 7 was so boring, and it isn’t Aussie Big Brother. Let me watch Survivor for strategy (and actually some good game play).

I hope they don't go the BBUK route though of being really petty about it just to get content from humiliating HMs.

There wasn't really strat chat or alliances in the Seven version when it came to nominations. It related more to the eviction voting but even then it was quite minimal compared to BBUSA and Survivor.

I vaguely remember some (but no specific instances since most of the Seven-era has been wiped from my memory), but since it was all hypothetical it was probably mostly left on the cutting room floor - since after winning the nominating housemate always went immediately to the Diary Room. There wasn't much of a window given at all to allow actual conversations about nominations to happen. And if they did, it was off-camera as they were moving back to the house.

Which is another stupid thing about that format. May it rot in hell.

I wonder if Mike Goldman is going to be the voice of Big Brother in the new series?

They’ve now posted some of the voice messages left on that phone number they showed recently.

Interestingly, one of them references Nine’s era with Oats A La Layla.

This has to be the best social media campaign for any series of BB ever. Very grassroots and appeals directly to the actual fans. I can’t wait to see what they do during the series. If they’re investing this much in to content now I can only imagine there’s lots of behind the scenes content coming.

At this point I’m half-expecting a BTS and/or Retrospective & Where Are They Now type special before the season premieres.

It is, but from what I've seen it is really only reaching those who really liked big brother in the past. More casual past viewers and new viewers don't even seem to know it is occurring.

10 used to do incredible outdoor advertising installations, not just a billboard,

I’d love to see more outdoor activations for the show, like set up a Perspex house in town squares across all capital cities, they’re usually next to train stations, it’s a nice photo op and prods people to share it on their social media to other people in their circles.

When was the last time you watched a show that was advertised by a network vs a show that was recommended to you by a friend or family member..

Talkin Bout Your Gen is airing at 7:30 Tuesdays from September 16, with an assumed 10 episode run it would end on November 18th, very curious how Big Brother fits into the schedule now

At this point I think that’s a sign they’re doing it right. With just over two months left until the premiere there’s still time to pull in new viewers.

There’s still time.

Some key points mentioned by the BBAU social team during Part 1 of the 2004 marathon:
  • they are taking notes from these YouTube livestreams “just in case” for potential use in the upcoming season
  • they hope to capture some timelapse footage and/or drone footage of the 2025 house build, but can’t reveal too much at this stage
  • they will be officially digitising every episode of Ten’s run from 2001-2008 “before the tapes degrade any further”, including the stuff they’re not uploading / can’t stream (i.e. Uncut, CBB, etc)
  • the master tapes actually remained at Dreamworld for many, many years before finally being moved to a proper media archival facility - they were not properly stored for a long time, hence the damage on so many tapes (or tapes completely missing, as is the case for 2001’s Big Brother Revealed and Big Brother Secrets specials, as well as 2004’s Day 2 Daily Show… so far)
  • there are teams currently “chasing down plenty of leads to see who still has DVD screeners or backup tapes” of the 2003 and 2004 seasons, as so many episodes from the master tapes have degraded too much - they are aware of “a few people in media ops (with) personal DVDs, but a lot of them got lost as they were never intended to be a true backup, only for screenings”
  • confirmed that they do not have any tapes or footage from Nine’s 2012-2014 seasons
  • given the nature of digitising analogue tapes, the entire series is being watched in realtime so this is also being used as an opportunity by the team to “look back at the full channel 10 run (and it) will be good to see what worked and didn't work to make 2025 the best it can be”
The last point in particular seems very promising.
