they were doing 576 digital from 2001 and were doing 720p HD from 2008. These are in 720p because they have been completely remastered from regular digital 576 and then turned into 720p using topaz labs ai. You could never make them 1080 because the amount of processing power and time would require a super PC. The computer used to make content this lengthy into 720 from 576 was already insanely powerful and took upwards of 13 hours to process each episode. These are all max 720p videos as far as I can see. Wasn't Ten HD broadcasting in 1080p Full HD even in 2005? @marquisite might know. Were these remastered into 720p from an SD source? And copyright issues notwithstanding.
and there is no copyright on big brother uploads unless they are made public for the rightsholders to easily locate and erase. These are all unlisted. Meaning the youtube bots cannot detect them because bb aus eps aren't in that recognition system and the rights holders also cannot detect them because they can't find the episodes easily. I would have just made them public but I figured I'd share them here as they can easily be taken down for copyright if they were public videos...These are all max 720p videos as far as I can see. No worries. Yea the person who upcaled them is very experienced with how to get the settings just right. Thanks for uploading these. They look quite good. Not overly processed looking like some videos that go overboard with the 4K upscaling for SD content. Back in the day I had taped the finales of 2004 and 2005. I had the cassettes sitting in storage until last year when I opened the box and found they had gone mouldy. It's a shame because I would have digitised them.
Fair enough. As someone who was a young kid when those FNL seasons aired, I was far more interested in that than watching people live in a house. That's why FNL is far more worthy of being preserved in a higher res for me than the actual episodes of big brother. (Even though as the years have gone on I've seen quite a few eps of regular BB)I think I'd rather rewatch every episode from Seven back to back than every episode, or indeed any episode, of FNL again. Really was the worst element of the show on Ten.
That said really appreciate the effort people have gone to over the years to preserve Big Brother episodes. If it wasn't for people doing so unofficially they'd pretty much be erased from history given other than BBUSA most versions haven't made their archive available through official channels.
it was also time to go gretels cheeks....Ten HD launched in December 2007 (TV Tonight).
Sort of related, in 2006 the BBAU control room received an upgrade, IIRC to make it HD capable. You can see below the control room differences from 2005 to 2006 - in 2006 it was time to go, CRTs.

Nah that's all good. I'm wasn't all that knowledgeable about it until recently....My mistake on the timeline of Ten HD btw.
No problem. Yea unfortunately I do not have those copies... The file sizes were too big for a full season to ever be sent through. Thanks for posting. A shame you don't have more of the general season from 2006 and 2007 in this quality!
No worries. I'm more than happy to share them. The vhs recording of the fnl finale from bb07 sounds interesting. Did it have it's commercials? These are great, thank you for uploading them! I recently came across several VHS tapes of BB07. There were some Uplate episodes, the last Daily Show, the FNL finale, and the season finale. I got them digitised, but not upscaled, maybe some day.
Yup, I got the entire tape digitised, and I haven't edited anything out.No worries. I'm more than happy to share them. The vhs recording of the fnl finale from bb07 sounds interesting. Did it have it's commercials?
Is it easy to share online? say on a google drive or something. And do you have the file saved somewhere that is easily accessible?Yup, I got the entire tape digitised, and I haven't edited anything out.
We loved friday night live over here in australia, stick to pommy big brother mate.I think I'd rather rewatch every episode from Seven back to back than every episode, or indeed any episode, of FNL again. Really was the worst element of the show on Ten.
