BIG BROTHER IS BACK ON 10 IN 2019!!! [April Fools]

Yes, I would start it completely afresh without Mike Goldman and with a brand new house. "Back to basics" is a horrid phrase but I think what they need to do is start with the core format and build it up themselves, rather than pick off from where Nine left off.
To be fair format wise Nine didn't do a bad job - basically kept the basic format but added new elements like the Superpower (which worked really well IMO) and then as a season twist the Halfway House. However it was the basics around production, live streaming, online engagement and scheduling that really let them down, plus the wrong choice of host.
The cricket deal could determine whether Ten even consider it - if they lose the Big Bash they may have come cash to splash. However wouldn't be too surprised if a revival of Idol might be considered less risky.
I guess compared to the garbage BBUK has been putting out the format for BBAU was decent... Although I still found the majority of twists to be pretty gimmicky and a bit scatterbrained... You do have a point about the basics surrounding production ect... It's no wonder why ratings suffered when they couldn't even maintain a consistent time-slot or tell a continuous story-line...

But Nine made it all kiddie friendly, which meant audiences missed out on a lot. Although, it has to be said, Ten either hedged its bets, or didn't know who it was aiming the show at from the start by scheduling it at 7pm and then later selling a season of "young, sexy and single" housemates. Very confusing, given their live audiences had previously been full of 10yos in bunny ears doing the bum dance. Maybe it would have turned out very differently if they had aired it in the 8.30 MA time slot from the get go.
I think the scheduling made sense as BB was essentially meant to be a real life soap... Peter Abbott said at one point that the reason the cast was typically on the younger side was the fact that their main competition in that time-slot was Home and Away... I don't think the intent was ever to market soft-core porn to young kids... It's just they just got a little too carried away trying to push the bedroom hi-jinks/showmances for the sake of ratings...
I think it should also be said with all the attention sexual misconduct cases have been getting in recent years it's highly unlikely that anything remotely close to the turkey slap incident would happen again...
Ain't that the truth! They would have known full well that the UK version was aired in a much later slot though. The sexy and single theme wasn't until S5 so I guess having peaked (IMO) at S3 they were probably desperate to give it a boost. Peter Abbott had left and Kris Noble was the boss by then, of course. It's just they just got a little too carried away trying to push the bedroom hi-jinks/showmances for the sake of ratings...

Every time there's an article about BB they mention the "dancing doona" so I think it's safe to say that at least on some level the bedroom hi-jinks were a part of BBAU well before Kris Noble and BB5... Also not that nudity should always be considered something of a sexual nature but Gretel was also asking people in the very first episode if they'd shower nude...
As for airing the show at 7pm... Would BBAU have really taken off if it were in a late night time slot? Don't Australian viewing habbits pretty much dictate the most popular and highest profile shows air between 7pm and 8pm?
To be honest BBUK owes much of it's success to the controversy surrounding Nasty Nick... Until that point ratings were pretty average... It's also not as if they haven't moved the show forward in the schedule multiple times over the years in order to attract more viewers...
It should also be said that BBCAN airs in a 7pm time-slot at least once a week in some time zones and there haven't been any issues...

I'm not necessarily saying there is anything wrong with Mike Goldman but merely that I think he's served his time... Like I said previously any new revival should wipe the slate clean and start anew... It's pretty much been accepted that a second revival will add another name to the growing roster of presenters BBAU has had over the years... So I don't understand why the same can't be said about the narrator role?

I like Mike's voice as narrator but I do get your point about back to basics etc. I also think that Lisa would be a very interesting host, April 1st jokes aside. Yes, new house, less bedroom hijinks/showmances and concentrate on general interactions and all round entertainment.

Would've be great if it was true, Lisa would make an awesome BB host...interesting that she didn't really seem put off by the idea of hosting it when asked about it on the Project...

As I said before I think "back to basics" is a bit of a lost cause... I think a renewed focus on some of the fundamentals is a good base but the format itself needs to move forward...

I'm just learning about this woman through the April fools joke... While I don't think she'd be a bad choice I'd much rather see someone slightly younger and with less of a profile take on the role...

Not her.What about Chrissie Swan?
i think you could have a big brother that talks about mature stuff and has interesting conversations without it becoming crass. you just have to pick the right kind of housemates.

ABSOLUTELY NOT! A former HM could present a spin-off show but shouldn't be involved in presenting the main program...
What's right with him?Aww whats wrong with Mike Goldman?
The show needs to look forward, not back and needs to pick it's narrator and hosts based on what the show needs in 2019, not what it needed in 2001.
Yes, the show basically started out at 11pm (with a couple of outings a week in the 8pm hour), moved to 10pm midway through BB1 and for BB7 moved largely to 9pm, but shifted back towards 10pm over the next couple of years. Celeb BB generally aired at 9pm.o be honest BBUK owes much of it's success to the controversy surrounding Nasty Nick... Until that point ratings were pretty average... UK TV though was and is quite different to Aussie TV in terms of scheduling - C4 used to traditionally be stronger after 10pm when the bigger channels switched to news and PSB content and generally aired comedy and entertainment aimed at the 16-34 market in the 11pm hour, so it was a natural slot for Big Brother at the time. They wouldn't put it there now as sadly it's a slot just used for repeats now.
Never a fan of ex-housemates hosting, though perhaps in Chrissie's case enough time has passed. What about Chrissie Swan?

BB had reached it's prime in 2006 for BB7... I mean they even moved the launch forward in to May for that series... BB5 and BB6 were both extremely strong series and I have no doubt that the move to an earlier time-slot had to do with ratings... As for the move back in to 10pm that was also a ratings decision as BB still hasn't regained it's footing after the CBB "race row"...
As for Chrissie Swan I don't think there has been enough time... I think bringing back any former HM as a presenter is pointless... Just as you said about Mike the show needs to move forward and not back... As I said before I think the role should go to someone who's profile can be elevated by the show and who will leave their own mark... I think someone like Chrissie brings too much baggage with her...
In terms of a time-slot I agree with @reepbot for once... I think it's possible to air in a prime-time slot in a mature manner without the need to be overly sanitized either...

How do you feel about Marcus as the narrator in BBUK? Do you feel the same way as he was also renewed as voice over guy between BBC4 and BBC5. I quite like the idea of having just a few common things stay the same. Such as Leon Murray being Big Brother. Little callbacks to previous seasons that make it more familiar for the viewerI'm not necessarily saying there is anything wrong with Mike Goldman but merely that I think he's served his time... Marcus has become a parody of himself... One of the best things about the January launch of CBB was that he wasn't involved... At the time BBUK was renewed I supported Marcus returning but looking back it was a horrible idea bringing him back as he's actually gotten worse... That said my feelings towards Mike Goldman have nothing to do with Marcus Bentley or BBUK...

This year’s CBB UK was my first time watching UK BB and I loved Marcus as a narrator. I like that he adds his own personality and flair to the narration. I think it would be great if BB ever came back to Australia to have someone like that as a narrator.

Spoon feeding viewers is never a good thing...
