I did encounter an organisation. It was the company I worked for. I was told by the top brass to delete records that would expose them legally to conduct of a particular creep on a US phone network. The company knew I was strict so they bypassed me, a programmer and used a network guy to delete logs for legal reasons. I directly defied CEO instructions to give secondary billing logs to the carrier that could reconstruct evidence for a prosecution. Ha!

So - if you can encounter people/an organisation and initially not realise they are engaing in activities you do not condone, then so can other people.
