I agree, to a point. I think I support the troops to a point. I'm just not a fan of war at all and I do have a friend who used to be in the army and I honestly feel a little uncomfortable around him sometimes simply for the fact that he did serve and the way in which he talks about it. That's probably awful of me, but it's how I feel. I did, however, meet someone from the army at a bar about four months ago and I was very vocal about my issues and he did (from what I remember, anyway) somewhat put my mind to ease and made me feel a little bit better about what the army... represents, I suppose.

At least we don't have conscription anymore.

There's a really lovely display of 40,000 knitted poppies in the memorial garden in Gosford (my local area) to commemorate the centenary.

I hope this crazy wind and rain hasn't blown them all away. I haven't been to a dawn service for a couple of years, since the passing of my Grandmother who served as a gunner in WW2 but I am thinking about going this year.

That's beautiful! I'm definitely going to go and try and see that as soon as this damn rain stops. Hopefully they're still there :(

Are you a coastie too? Did I already know this?

Nah, I'm in Sydney but I'm originally from Newcastle and have family scattered through there and the Central Coast so I pass through very regularly (usually once or twice every two weeks or so) for that and also some work stuff.

I'm not quite sure. I think so.

I imagine I'd be able to talk my way out of it somehow... (...right...?)
While Australia currently has no provision, I wouldn't think you are guaranteed that if WW3 breaks out.
Thing is tho, WW3 ... When it happens, will be fought very differently. So who knows.

G'day Jordy!

Is that all you got down there in Melb?!?

We have torrential rain and strong winds. Suburb away from me is in black out. So don't complain if it's just a bit chilly there :p

Good day to you too, bleachy!

Yes, all we have got here but way too much in my opinion. I can't deal with the cold that well. Hot weather is what I like best by far. :P

Get used to it as winter is coming and as far temperatures go this was typical of your average winter's day. Perhaps a little above average actually.

I'm so glad I live on the Gold Coast where it doesn't get that cold compared to other parts of Australia. It was so cold in Launceston when I used to live there.

So, Just wondering - How do you all feel about celebrating Australia Day?

Just another day for me. I really don't think it's a day worth celebrating to be honest with you.

Generally I prefer warmer weather. However I think it's easier to warm up than cool down.

There are only so many layers one can take off.

... Maybe that's exactly why you like hotter weather ;) ?!?
