I was one of the 150 people picked to progress to phase two. I had been watching these forums for a while to see if anyone posted any information on what to expect as it was my first time auditioning and i was unaware of the process. I was always and observer and only made an account tonight to answer a few questions for people and vent some things about my experience. I want to remain anonymous as i will probably audition again next year, and also have great respect for alex who has stated to us that we are not to talk in detail about our audition experience or the people we met along the way.
They are still in the process of visiting the cities and choosing potential housemates. I attended one of the first ones, and needless to say i did not make it past the first day (very long day) but it was really fun and i met a a few great people. thats right, only a few. Every second person i spoke to was either studying to become, or already worked as an actor. They spoke of commercials, movies, modelling jobs they had done, and here i am sitting there thinking "what the hell am i doing here" I am not an actor and dont wish to become one and i feel that maybe i was in over my head with the whole experience. I was told i was one of the producers favourites and they always made sure that i has a turn to talk and show my personality off. I am pretty happy with how far i made it, and disappointed that i didnt get further, however i was also relieved in a sense.. I cannot speak highly enough of the producers and team, they are all very nice people and were very kind to everyone on the day.
I am in contact with a few people who have made it to the next and final stage, and I am pretty positive i know of at least 5 people that they will be putting in the house however thats my own opinion and nothing official..yet

If anyone has any questions feel free to ask!

So two days, not just the one? How many people were in your group day 1 and how many went through to day 2?

I just knew there would be heaps of actors/models again! Starting to lose faith in the whole process that's why I didn't end up applying again this year.

Bad luck on not getting any further, but well done on getting to top 150!

Congratulations on making it so far and good luck for next year!!

How many people did you audition with and how many made it through to the 2nd stage?

Out of the people who made it through to Day 2, how many of them were normal, every day people and how many were attractive models/actors.

thanks! that means alot. I think i went in there thinking "yeah i got this" but then i arrived and saw everyone was in my situation and it sort of didnt feel as "special"

So yeah it was 2 days and at the end of day 1 we all got to leave after a friendly speech from alex where he basically said don't be disappointed if you dont get through, and spoke about housemates such as ben etc. having to apply a few times. he also said dont take it personally because we might not be who they are looking for this year, he suggested maybe it could be a "singles" house or "heros VS villans" and that we may not have fit that criteria. They said that once we left we would recieve a text in the next couple of hours telling us if we were required for day 2. I didn't get the text but a few i made friends with that day did. There were a couple of dudes who i felt that i bonded with and we got along well during the day, but they were your typical good looking dude with not alot to say. reminded me of drew or ed. and then a couple of girls, one very loud and annoying, and the other i had spoken to during that day that said to me she didnt even want to do it after seeing all the other people and that if she was offered the spot she would say no. i think maybe she was just saying this to avoid embarassment if she didnt get it. she was interesting and not loud at all, but all of them were the "year 10 drama game" type and had a fair bit of confidnece about them. neither of the girls were attractive though.[DOUBLEPOST=1402020712][/DOUBLEPOST]

thanks heaps! i think i answered this in my reply above you :D

Hey @secretsanta - well done making it that far! You obviously have something about that stands out, probably even more so to not fit into the actor/model mould.

What types of activities did you have to do on the first day?

What types of activities did you have to do on the first day?

it was honestly such an exhausting day. very mentally and physically draining (in my opinion).
we had to start very early in the morning and did not finish til the late afternoon.
1 activity we did was get in a large circle with a bucket of questions/tasks in the middle. each person got up 1 at a time, picked a random piece of paper and on it had what they had to do. this was different things such as "pretend you're on a cooking show and describe to us the dish you're cooking" to "what is your biggest regret" and you had to stand in the middle of the circle and answer it infront of everyone. some of the questions were stupid and some were okay.
we also had to do a speed dating type game where we met everyone and talked to them for about a minute. at the end of this we had to save one person and eliminate one person based on the brief meeting we had with them. it was pretty brutal and people were taking it personally.

we played a variety of drama games, and i guess i would classify myself as a bit of an introvert because i didnt really enjoy them and didnt like the fact you had to get up infront of everyone andact like a fool just to get a few laughs. some people just took it too far and at times i felt embarassed for the extent people would go to for attention. they were all the type of games they played in round 1 of audition day.

for those who made it to round 2 on audition day, they did that again too.

they also split us into groups they had chosen where we then had about 3 hours to make up a 5 minute act of a day in the big brother house. the people who were natural actors really shone in this and those who weren't were quite obvious. we performed it infront of the other groups and the prouducers sat taking notes and watching etc.

my favourite part of the day was when we were taken into a room made up as a mock diary room. we sat down infront of a camera and bright lights shining on us and big brother asked us questions about the day.

Haha I don't know. Just speculating.
How do you know when the Sydney auditions are? I just saw Alex tweeted he is flying to Sydney tonight. I think @jessy_girl said the Sydney auditions weren't for a couple of weeks. Confused....
i met a few people who were given audition venues but werent able to attend on that day, so they were given other cities as other options and sydney on tuesday was one of them

i think it's great you got as far as you did, congratulations

some questions for you. do you think you were more mentally mature than the others, and this is why you were more at ease with the discussion rather than the acting for the crowd? i would like to see more talk on the show rather than see things that might amuse me, so i hope you not getting through was not our loss. were they after specific ages, personalities, or basically good looking entertainers?

So where did you audition? Or you can't say?

How many people were there on the first day? Did you find out how many got to second day?

By the way, thanks for the info.

i don't want to say where i auditioned only because in the event alex or someone do read these forums, i still want a shot next year, and from what i've read on here, they don't like people who are members of this site (i even made a new hotmail address to make this account) i do believe i have a shot at it next year because i think they did like me, i was just overwhelmed by the hype of it all on the day.
on the first day there were about 30-40 people and i really dont know how many made it to the second day but i know about 8 that did.

thankyou! look i honestly think there are some smart people chosen but on that audition day everyone is fighting so hard for the spotlight that everything they say is over-dramatized that you dont even know if half the shit they are saying is true. I was one of the younger ones, of all the people i know that have gotten this far and progressed to the next stage... the oldest was 31.
i do feel i was more mentally mature without blowing my own horn, i am not the type to put others down or say something outrageous just to get attention. and there was a very wide variety of people on day 1, and like i said previously, the girls that were chosen that i know of, were very average looking, nowhere near tahan/jade quality (not that i find either of them attractive)

Wow, that's more than I thought would be in a group.
So you all swapped numbers and stuff with other potentials? Isn't that a big no-no?

yeah its a no no but it wasnt forced upon us, basically alex said he cant force us not to hang out but they prefer it if we didnt.

Hmm, @jessy_girl I'll be interested to see how you go after Sydney auditions. Good luck to you :)

is @jessy_girl attending the sydney ones? on tuesday i believe?

Haha nope, not me! I would make a shocking housemate. Not sure what is going on, I do know someone supposedly in the next round though but we'll see.

Thanks for the insight though secretsanta, always interesting to hear!

no worries! i also thought i would clear up they dont make you hand over your password on facebook, they simple makeyou put all your accounts on private and also add you on one of their secret facebook pages so they can keep an eye on you i guess.

i really feel for you being in a situation where the majority of people that were there were used to some sort of public exposure already. looks like most of the 2013 HMs seem to have done this as well, and i could only think of Sharon who might not have been in the spotlight before, but i think she went in looking to promote her business anyway. does not look like the average joe/jane scenario once again, and i was really hoping this year would be different, we have asked for this in the site so many times. why they no listen?

i am really glad this did not put you off at all, next year you will know the ropes, and hopefully not be so nervous or self conscious. your personality is what it is, and they obviously liked what they saw with you, just the butterflies and the lack of auditioning for anything before might have got to you :)

can i ask you, were you wanting anything at all out of BB if you went in? fame, promotion, job, freebies, more sex, hahaha?
