Prize money for 2nd and 3rd was a bit measily

yeh it wasn't much and it's like - if you're offering that little - maybe don't give anything at all??

anyway they have been given a great experience and friends so that's more important :)

a nice little car for the runner up girls would have been nice...with their little bit of $$$$:)

How about a 10K for the housemate coming 4th?

It's not fair that we give 50k and 30k for the runners up, and nothing for the person at 4th place.

And this could create a domino effect - people wanting them to give money for the 5th and 6th placers too...lol

A second hand tv!

Yeah I thought the prize money was a bit cheap too, considering they were able to win $5k just for playing Saturday Showdown at times.

I agree that they should get more but I would like to have that TV, they sell for about $5,500 and that one is barely used

Yep - Channel 9 are PATHETIC at giving prizes to the housemates! God, I remember when EVERY evictee got a CAR!

That was the sponsors not channel 10, they all pulled out when BB started putting young horny singles in the house and viewer ratings dropped.

They all got cars last year, didn't they? I wonder why they didn't this year.

I couldn't help but laugh at Tahans prize money. A bit stingy, but there you go.

I don't think so, someone won a car while in the house.

A car was won in the house, and another given to Ben.

With all the cash they raked in with voting, BB didn't give them anything? The $10K and $5K weren't even from the show, but from Ambi-Pur. Think how much money Tahan and Jade's voters made for the show. Tahan probably pulled in more than anyone else, including the winner.

The money from voting will largely go to paying off the production costs (redesigning house, crew wages etc) and the $250k prize, after that there will be a small profit that goes to the production company (not Nine), but it won't be all that big.

Tim already won 5K in one of the challenges so that's the same as Tahans prize for coming second. It's way too stingy of channel 9 for people that are within 10% of the winning number of votes. They made it to the last day as well, I don't see why they didn't deserve 30G and 50G instead. If it were channel 10 they would have done better, that was pretty lame given the amount of people voting.

Better than nothing I always say.

Yeah that's what I think.
The world is very different financially from what it was 5-10 years ago.
Small percentage of the public votes, not everyone and also I'd say Sonia costs heaps more than Gretski.

Yeah they used to get a 3 mobile phone, Kamuka trip, $5000 and a car. Before that they got a playstation 2 and scooters.

That's because they all sponsored big brother... There was a car company, 3 mobile, a travel company, Sony who also suplied the tvs etc

When BB went trashy and the Turkey slap incident they all pulled their sponsorship now they have Ambi pur and kfc not sure if there are any others

That's right, wasn't it Ben who won the car in the house too? lol

Yum restaurants (who own KFC/Pizza Hut) also sponsored in 2001 - I seem to recall the housemates getting pizza each week post-eviction?

That is exactly what I was thinking! Very tacky to give so little. As I said elsewhere, KFC should have said it with cash.

You have a great memory lol
They had heaps of sponsors initially but when they all pulled out the prizes went to shit
