Ratings Thread 2013

1.33million viewers (prelim figures, likely to be more) watched DWTS lol!

You know I just had a bit of a connection revelation. Reading an article on TV Tonight, David Knox states:

Big Brother honestly has lost the 'event tv' feeling with Channel Nine. I don't think they really understand what the show was. I'm still an optimist. I think it will be back in 2014 and I will still watch every episode. However it doesn't 'feel' like a live spectacle. We are almost never shown actual live footage from the house, Sonia's live interviews with evictees are a poor man's cousin of Gretel's interviews, nominations aren't shown live, neither is showdown games. We have no actual live feed and no up late. As stated above live TV is still broadly appealing. If even a lame concept like DWTS can pull 1.3million, what is BB doing wrong?

I am a super-massive BB fan since the very first episode and haven't missed a single episode since, whether watched live or caught up online or PVR'd. Tonight I will be watching S.H.I.E.L.D. And catching up with BB online tomorrow....
Why? I don't actually feel the urgent need to see Live Eviction, live. It's not really event TV and I don't feel like I miss anything by watching it online later, and I am a super massive fan of the concept. I can only imagine how casual viewers feel.

So in answer to your question, Goon, Who actually watched DWTS?
Answer: people who are drawn to LIVE event television. The crowd who have unfortunately NOT been captured by the producers and network behind BB

Having a cute movie star on your judging panel doesn't hurt either, he - and my love of Todd got me watching some of it. Don't much watch the dancing - that is usually horrendous, but looks like they are trying to step it up to a better level.

DAILY SHOW - Monday, 7th October 2013

950k - #7 in total people.

#3 in 25-54 & 18-49 demos and #1 in 16-39 demos

Imagine what numbers the show could've gotten if it was shown at 7pm as per usual!
Maybe it could've broken the million mark. Ratings seem to be very consistent this year and we're getting close to the million mark more often now. Really hope this continues and hopefully we'll get another Big Brother next year.

Wow. Topping all demos is SO good.
It will probably end up #8 in total people too, DWTS went 20mins over so will have massively over inflated body of proof.

And there you go... Another 1.24 million watched DWTS, but seeing as though BB beat it in all demos, it has a very much older demographic.

There is more live excitement and joy on the ten news than BB13, tonight (Syd) Hugh Rimmington was surprized when a recorded story was cut short, just as he started to cover the glitch, raucous laughter took over the audio in a billionth of a second Hugh decided to let it play uninterrupted then commented plus the expected Newsreader Pro appolgy= awesome and fun. Hiya Guys this is my first post, after a few weeks lurking. Big Bro has devolved to the stage where, as someone else commented in another thread, BB excitement & entertainment is now DIY and online by fans!! Tonights eviction seemed very fake and staged, sadly all the trust has gone from the show.

EDiT: To get this back on topic & the main reason i was posting is that the younger types do not know what live entertainment was, i think this reflects in the younger demo watching. More importantly there is a much shorter attention span so true live has less appeal for them and so the manufactured version of BB we see today.

I wanted to watch it too, gosh darn it....
What time was it on? (Beauty and the Geek I mean)

Dunno but I just watched it on plus7 (channel 7's online catchup)

I was wondering if it had a forum akin to behindbigbrother how many of the 'geeks' would be outed as actors and how many of the 'beauties' are more intelligent than they portray. Guilty light entertainment regardless.
