First impressions on the housemates so far

Hi everyone,

Welcome back. So far i'm very pleased with the big brother housemates. They're very diverse and everyone seems down-to-earth and bubbly. I'm glad these people are a little more mature (in personality and in age) and less trashy than the housemates pre-08, except for the 1st and 2nd big brother.

In order of appearances

So what do you guys think? I've got a few opinions on the people in the house, but all the other years my opinions have changed as the show progressed...

In order of appearances
1. Mikkayla - She seems cool, interesting, quiet but not just cannon fodder. May fire up later on
2. Xavier - Liked him, seems like what Michael last year was going for only genuine.
3. Tahan - Princess, "I love me who do you love!?" I actually like watching her though, entertaining, she will go early I think!
4. Ben - nice but very annoying very quickly!
5. Tully - my very early favourite, I love the way she called out Tim so soon! She will be nommed a lot though (should she last!)
6. Tim - ANNOYING, but I guess you need that for a little while at least to liven the place up.
7. Sharon - Could blow a fuse and explode in a fantastic fashion. One to watch.
8. Ed - The hunk of the house, good looking, probably very nice and will coast through without any real dramas. So a bit boring.
9. Matthew - Like Ed but more arrogant.
10. Heidi - Didnt really get a read on her cause I was busy.
11. Caleb - Looks a lot older than 33.
 
- Mikkayla seems nice and cute and funny. I think I'd like to see a lot more of her.
- Xavier also seems nice and cute and funny. I ship him and Mikkayla a little.
- Tahan is... pretty. But whiny. And dumb. She's basically like all those beachy girls I went to high school with in every way.
- Ben, when I saw him I was just like "yep, there he is, the token gay housemate". I feel like he might be playing a character, but he's cute anyway.
- Define:Tully - Tumblr.com. Haven't seen much of her but she looks like she'll be cool.
- Tim, sort of like Michael a little, but more of an obnoxious dick.
- Sharon reminds me of Sarah from last season. I think she'll be interesting, but not really liked in the house.
- Ed - boring. I think he'll be a bit like Josh - hot, friendly, but not as interesting to watch.
- Matthew - Who was this again? The soldier? Seems kind of plain jane to me.
- Heidi - loud, might be a bit of a Zoe this season. I don't have much of an opinion yet.
- LETS NOT FORGET JASMIN OP! I thought she was cute and seems like she'll be fun.
- Caleb - He's like a cross between Shane Warne and Jamie from season (?). I have a feeling he'll leave fairly early on.
 
1. Mikkayla: I think she will be a bit of a fire crakcer. She comes across as quite witty and smart. I like her!
2. Xavier: I thought he was trying wayyyyy to hard to be funny but I think he actually is intelligent and witty. I don't mind him.
3. Tahan: I think she will be good value and will be a good housemate but I dislike her as a person.
4. Ben: Hmm I am struggling to warm to him. Quite strange.
5. Tully: I love Tully! I love how she had a go at Tim. I think she is going to be quite outspoken and the house needs a character like her!
6. Tim: My favourite. Before you all think bad of me, I will just say I am not a teenager and I hated Michael fro last year. I don't think Tim is anything like Michael. I think Tim is going to be very entertaining and I love how he is already causing conflict and getting on the other housemates nerves. I was really hoping for a Housemate that would annoy the shit out of the other Housemates and it seems like their is one in Tim!
7. Sharon: Reminded me a lot of Sarah from last year but I think I will like Sharon far more! Could be a bit of a surprise package.
8. Ed: Could be a bit boring but he seems like a really genuine, kind, smart guy.
9. Matthew: Same as Ed but way worse fashion.
10. Heidi: I actually really like Heidi. I think she will be good value.
11. Jasmin: I love Jasmin. I hope she doesn't fade into the background because I think she has a lot to offer.
12. Caleb: 1 word-YUCK! He is so rank haha. Reminds me of Saxon2008. Such a bogan. I just hope he can start some arguments and I did like how he said he dislikes people who pick on the underdog.

Overall I think it is a great batch of housemates. A very interesting and diverse group. A lot of potential for conflict and quite a few firecrackers in the group. Great casting by Alex M and the team and this seems far less family friendly compared to last year. In fact this series feels nothing like last year!
 
I have a crush on Xavier :o ...and I don't think I like Tahan. Her having a cry about her clothes & hair dryer brought back heinous memories of Bridget in 08 :(
 
1. Mikkayla - She's cool. I'd bang her. Seems nice enough. Probably someone that'd be nice to meet in real life.

2. Xavier - I actually know him in real life. Good dude, was being himself.

3. Tahan - She's hot, I'd do her. She'll be nice to look at and entertaining for a while but it'll wear off and when ever she goes, you won't miss her.

4. Ben - Oh dear..... what to say about him... Firstly I hate the babying and the lowered expectations sonia, bb and even that mum lady were putting on him. Treating him as an innocent niave child. That said, I think he's borderline intelligence and emotionally and not mentally equiped for the house. He'll wear thing very quickly, and get by on a lot of sympathy and the aforementioned lowered expectations and standards.

5. Tully - She seems nice and quite normal. If she was straight I'd have a crack. Cute dog. I think i'll enjoy her in the house.

6. Tim - I didn't like him at first, but I kind of liked him being silly and egging on Tahan to go in the spa and his reaction of not believing she was going to do it. So I think I'll actually find him entertaining, but I don't see liking him as a person.

7. Sharon - 'I'm a mum' yes you are, so are a billion other people. So shut up, it doesn't make you special or unique.

8. Ed - Way to please with himself. Clearly thinks he's a top bloke, probably has little personality beyond trying to present himself as such.
9. Matthew - Seems typical to be groomed to be the winner. Does nothing for me. Pot plant with a good caption.

10. Heidi - Just because you laugh after everything you say does not mean you are funny!!!!

11. Jasmin - Does nothing for me.

Mikkayla: A bit sooky. I didn't mind her, and she actually seems intelligent. Considering we had a bunch of housemates who couldn't name the capital of Tasmania last year, she's welcome to last as long as she likes.

Xavier: He reminds me of a lot of guys I know and hang out with (and probably even myself). Not the coolest, aware of it and allows himself to play with that.

Tahan: Typical bikini babe Big Brother housemate. She's a girly girl who says she likes hanging out with the boys and wants to get her kit off. We see her type at least once in every BB series. Not interested.

Ben: I like him, but it's all very awkward. He's the kind of guy that I just don't think it's fair to see cop the abuse he will inevitably get. It almost feels like Big Brother is taking advantage of him being different.

Tully: My favourite thus far. She wasn't willing to take crap, she seems a friendly chick and I even got past her saying she couldn't stay off Instagram, which is one of my pet peeves to do with girls.

Tim: I thought he was similar to Ben in that he was being taken advantage of until I saw he has been on TV and radio before (which they conveniently, ehm, 'forgot' to mention). Now I'm not sure if this is all an act or not.

Sharon: She even looks a bit like Sarah. It's scary. The only difference is that she's ten years older thus far.

Ed: Seems a nice guy. He actually made the effort to talk to the people on the other side of the fence and not rub in the gap.

Matthew: He has a gimmick, but that appears to be it. He seems like a good guy who would be fine to hang out with, but he doesn't make for great television.

Heidi: She made an effort too, which was nice. She's in my ehh pile.

Jasmin: Guys don't like you because you look like a guy with some of those clothes on. We really didn't see much of her.

Caleb: Get out of the sun, you look like leather. The "screw loose" comment got on my nerves a bit. Tried to present himself as a good bloke who stands up for the little guy, but he looks like a bonehead.

2. Xavier - Seems to be a warm character, could possibly become a pain.
3. Tahan - Sexy and she knows it!! Hopefully she reverts to a more pleasing version of herself.
4. Ben - Quirky but harmless. Could win.
5. Tully - Arrgh, has/had potential but showed immature tendencies.
6. Tim - A Russell Brand wanna be. Still good value ATM.
7. Sharon - Lose the Shazza and don't become a mother for any housemate.
8. Ed - Girl candy.
9. Matthew - Girl candy with a cause
10. Heidi - Token overweight funny girl
11. Jasmin - A coloured girl for good measure
11. Caleb - Mr Bogan come on down.
 
1. Mikkayla - I love her already! She seems fun and nice, probably my favorite housemate so far. Anyone else noticed she looks like Jenna Ushkowitz who plays Tina on Glee? They look physically almost exact, even act and laugh the same (also they showed the first mean tweet of the season and it was directed at her, and I'm big on underdogs so!!)
2. Xavier - He seems interesting, doesn't seem to be too cocky and I see a bromance brewing between him and another housemate ;)
3. Tahan - I liked her backstory, but in the house she's just plain annoying. She knew exactly on what to do to get screentime, knew she'd be in trouble, just don't like her at all anymore.
4. Ben - Funny how his name is also Ben, but I can see why he made it as a housemate. He's so cute, though he may get pretty boring down the road.
5. Tully - Really like her, she seems nice but I wonder if she's going to reveal her sexuality or keep it under wraps?
6. Tim - I liked his introduction video, but I think he's a little too over the top and trying too hard. He reminds me of Michael, who I disliked so much last year so..
7. Sharon - Sarah, anyone? I like her, but I don't think she'll make it far.
8. Ed - Seems nice, Ryan from last year said they met at auditions and that he's pretty nice. Wish they used his twin to their advantage but oh well.
9. Matthew - Respect for him! Like his stance on life, though he may become sort of a pot plant later on.
10. Heidi - She seems awfully familiar but I like her, she seems bubbly and fun.
11. Jasmin - Haven't seen much of her, don't think she'll make it far.
11. Caleb - Conflicted on what I think of him. I like that he's honest but yeah.

I seem to like the majority this year, and I won't mind Tim and Tahan staying longer as long as they don't win or get my favorites out.
 
Mikkayla - Seems nice enough so far, but was playing to the cameras a bit at the start. Hope she isn't a potplant.

Xavier - Barely noticed him, went for the standard funny guy role. Will probably last a while.

Tahan - Would be cannon fodder in a vote-to-evict system, someone you would normally enjoy watching in a trainwreck kind of way for two weeks, knowing they won't last long. Hopefully crazy in a TJ kind of way.

Ben - Very awkward and I don't think he'll survive well.

Tully - Not sure. Could be moody, could be down-to-earth. What I'm interested in is what someone said in Sunday's thread about her being a huge BB fan. Also interested in how she and Ben interact.

Tim - Tryhard troll. I think he wants to fit into the Paul role of being chief pot-stirrer, but will probably be more annoying like Bodie.

Sharon - Also reminded me of Sarah from last year, and maybe Perry a bit too. The police history could make her interesting.

Ed - Zzzzzzz.

Matthew - Could be a potplant, could be a loose cannon, who knows.

Heidi - Possibly funny, possibly not. Reminded me a little of Kate from '07.

Jasmin - Could be something interesting there, even though she faded into the background tonight. Seemed warm, I think she reminded me a little of intruder Rachael in BBUK11, not sure. I want to rewatch her intro.

Caleb - Reminded me of Saxon '08 too. He's saying all the things he thinks he's meant to be saying, like being a SNAG and an underdog defender, but doesn't seem to realise how transparent it is.

On the whole, it's good to see the group is a little bit older on average, but it still isn't much moreso than usual, and isn't a very diverse bunch yet. I'll give it a chance though.

1. Mikkayla- meh. Not sure. She didn't leave much of a mark.
2. Xavier-I like him. I think he'll be good value
3. Tahan-no. Just no.
4. Ben-Bradley junior? At least he doesn't stutter.
5. Tully-oooo I like her. She's fiery!
6. Tim-first impressions were not good. But watch this space.
7. Sharon- she seems lovely. And her kids are adorable, not that that has anything to do with it. I'm a bit put off by her wanting to nurture Ben. Sarah-B-Rad springs to mind.
8. Ed-YUMMY!!! So shoot me! I love the eye candy.
9. Matthew-I think he'll be interesting in the long run.
10. Heidi-Loud but kind. I think I could like her.
11. Jasmin- faded into the wooodwork two minutes after arriving. Speak up, Jazzie!!
11. Caleb- WTF is with those bleached teeth!! Holy hell!! They glow in the damn dark. But I think he might be fun.

I have no idea why they feel the need to drop Malibu Barbie and Grunge Ken into the mix tonight as a fake married couple. I guess we'll see.

All in all, loving this cast this year. I think it'll be a good season.
 
1. Mikkayla
She seems quite funny, but also down to earth. She also seems like a pretty good indication of what normal non-bogan Australians are like. I would have actually liked to see more people like her this year. At the moment she is one of my favourites.
2. Xavier
Seemed a bit full of himself - typical Victorian wanker. I predict he will be evicted mid-season, and nobody will really care because of how boring he will be.
3. Tahan
As much as it seems most members on this forum don't like Tahan, I think she has potential as a housemate. If she can get past the whole acting like she is somebody else stage and actually act like she would without the cameras, I think she could be alright. At this stage though, I'm going to put my money on her eviction being in the first four weeks.
4. Ben
I actually really like Ben. He is different. He also isn't a huge bogan, which is a plus. Seems like an interesting character. My bet is that he will make it to the final few weeks.
5. Tully
Coming from an advertising background, Tully seems like a genuine social media strategist. They can be quite annoying at times, however, Tully seems like she will be good value, so long as she doesn't get to big for her boots.
6. Tim
Tim is annoying as fuck. His personality wouldn't bother me as much if he would let other people have the opportunity to speak. The way he talked to Matthew was pretty disgusting, and you could tell he wasn't even listening to Matthew's answers...he was more interested in making it about himself. I hope he is evicted early.
7. Sharon
Sharon is alright. Nothing special and appears to be a little bit boring. She might open up and show a bit more value as it goes on. However, I think it is irresponsible of any parent to cut off all contact with their 14 month old child for up to 3 months, regardless of whether there is a spouse to look after the child.
8. Ed
Ed seems to me like a typical suit kind of guy. He seems very normal, and he has his head screwed on. He might prove to be a little boring, but I hope not because I would like for Australia to be able to see what a normal middle-class Australian should act like.
9. Matthew
Matthew seems alright. He is a little bit of a bogan, and you can tell that there is a level of arrogance there. I think he did, however, handle Tim's inappropriate questions about killing people quite well. I also think that Matthew will be a great alpha-male character for the house.
10. Heidi
I like Heidi. I feel like I haven't seen enough of her to warrant even a first impression yet, however, she appears to have the right attitude about the whole thing, and she certainly doesn't appear to be as up herself as some of the others.
11. Jasmin
Jasmin seems quirky. I think she will be interesting, but I hope that she isn't boring. I am a bit worried that she won't come entirely out of her shell.
12. Caleb
Anybody that sleeps with that teeth whitening bleach stuff in their mouth is a moron. He clearly isn't very bright. Reminiscent of Travis from '07, but that was such a horrible season, I cringe at the thought of this season turning out like that.

All in all, I think that the housemates are pretty shit this year. I want to see more normal people, who have a quirky side, not cringeworthy overbearing bogans!
 
1. Mikkayla - Witty and smart, and she seems really sweet and that she'll be quite easygoing (and therefore be popular with the other HMs) and last quite a while in the house. Already coming out with some corker lines - I like her!

2. Xavier - I think he's the alpha male of the house. Seems very self-assured and self-possessed and that he's not going to allow himself to get embroiled in any pettiness. Perhaps he has a game plan, but I think he's smart enough to be subtle about it. I think he and Mikkayla have chemistry! I like him so far.

3. Tahan - They're obviously trying to set her up as the spoilt bratty/bitchy girl, but she's not coming off as your typical bimbo. She seems quite sweet, and she's SO pretty!

4. Ben - He could go either way for me - too early to call. It kind of annoys me that he thinks his taste is SO unusual - a lot of people are into kitsch and mid-20th century modern. Big deal. I hope he turns out to be fun!

5. Tully - Something tells me she's going to get into some hugely entertaining arguments with the people who rub her up the wrong way. Another HM who seems intelligent and quite interesting - I'm really happy with the picks this year!

6. Tim - Insecure, immature narcissist. I think he's trying to be another Paul but he just doesn't have the chops. I think he's going to unravel quite quickly and drop his obnoxious act, but it might be too late by then to change the other HMs opinion of him. We'll see... Meanwhile, I hope he stirs up some controversy!

7. Sharon - A little boring so far. I think she sees herself as an alpha. She might get too bossy and rub everyone up the wrong way.

8. Ed - He's so pretty... I hope he's not as boring as he seems so far. He might just be a bit subdued because he's overwhelmed by all the loud peeps.

9. Matthew - *yawn* The one thing I'm happy about though is that all the guys are quite mature (at least regarding age, if not mentality), but Matthew seems just like your typical bloke and a bit bland.

10. Heidi - I hope she's not so in your face that the other HMs dislike her. She seems quite nice so far.

11. Jasmin - Hard to call. I'm thinking she might actually be a bit difficult and cause some friction. I hope so! She seems smart and interesting, and I like her so far!

11. Caleb - Although another blokey type guy, he seems a bit more laidback about all the typical machismo BS, so I like him better than Matthew so far.

I'm probably totally off the mark with all of my first impressions, but I'm really happy with the HMs they've chosen this year. Last year was SO disappointing. I'd forgotten all about them but was just remembering yesterday how much I detested Michael. So glad he didn't win.
 
Nobody annoys me in the same way as last year - yet.
Tim is obviously an idiot, and Ben can't be serious & looks like a cartoon, but we will see.
Tahan is whatever, but at least she actually is beautiful unlike that monkey girl last year that hung on radio dude.

Mikkayla has a beautiful face don't you think, the shape of it is quite stunning.
