Bradley and his stutter card

I hope that Bradley is put up for eviction, I can't stand that little fucker.

At the beginning he was the nicest guy and now he is becoming a real asshole. Talking about everyone behind their backs, using his so-called confidence but doesn't have the balls to tell them to their faces. I've noticed when he is talking to housemates there is no stutter coming out of his mouth. He talks normal like everyone else, but when he gets 'airtime' or in the DR he pulls out his stutter card. The viewers can feel sorry for him and keep him in the house. Has he shown any medical record proving that he can stutter?

Anyone can stutter and fake it to convince people. I don't buy this crap that he really stutters. BS doesn't fool me.

haha your joking right? have you ever known anyone with a stutter? Obviously NOT

This thread should be closed.

It's fine to have a go at Bradley for issues you may have with, say, his dealings with people, but questioning whether his stutter is real is just cruel. Nervousness commonly triggers stuttering and that seems relevant to Bradley (i.e. when he met Sam he stuttered quite a lot because he was clearly nervous about meeting the guy). If you watch him in the diary room, look at his eyes as they constantly point towards the ceiling, you can see how much he struggles with getting words out at times.

I don't even know why I'm giving explanations as to why his stutter is real, it's such a stupid comment that it shouldn't even be taken seriously.

exactle micky i could not even be bothered explaining it but good on you for taking the time. This thread is just wrong.

I don't even have a full on stutter but when I'm nervous I stutter a little bit on my words and mix them up, but when I'm not I am articulate and people tend to think I'm really intelligent.. so I don't think.

honest

This thread may be "wrong", but it appears to be the honest perception of someone with 10 posts who may not have read everything here about Aspie Brad.

There are probably a lot more in the viewing public who share this perception and views.

You mingers who keep insisting that anything you don't agree with or understand should be shut down, banned, and closed, you should be trapped in an airlock until you grow some brains.

You don't have to have watched BB or posted on this forum to understand what might trigger a stutter. I'd hardly call BB educational...

I'm not sure what triggers a stutter.

Perhaps it is being asked questions by others, such as in the diary room chair.

When making a statement, which is usually not going to be appreciated by the other housemate, is there not much stutter?

What people will not understand is one reason why he makes statements without thinking of the feelings of others. Yes he is young, but it is not that. This rubbish about it being because he is from a small country town where he doesn't meet many people is contradicted by the fact he works in a supermarket.

The reason for his behaviour is because he shows signs of Aspergers Syndrome, which means his neurology may be different. If you appreciate this about Bradley, then you can forgive him for a lot of his dickhead ways.

Does BB generate cynicism or attract it? Or is it a little of both?

You really ought to put disclaimers with such outrageous statements.
IE - Brad has not disclosed himself as aspie, this poster is not a doctor, this poster has never met
Brad.
Bradley's parents would be highly insulted by such comments, your suggesting child abuse qand neglect, that they didn't care enough to get him diagnosed or help.
It's just wrong to keep spurting this crap.

He's not some poor kid, he's an arrogant shit being rude because he can - just like a lot of teens his age. He's not special or different, he's a common garden variety of dickhead 19 year old, find them everywhere. He's rather up himself if anything.

You were making sense for the first few sentences but by the end of your post you succeeded in demonstrating that you're either extremely ignorant or a complete jerk who enjoys making fun of other people's flaws to make themselves feel better (you know, just like Bradley).

As plenty of people have already pointed out, it is completely normal for someone to stutter more when they are in anxiety provoking situations. You don't need to be an expert on stuttering to figure that out. Everyone stumbles over their words when they experience nervousness, so it's completely normal for a stutterer experience a similar problem.

Your claim that anyone could fake a stutter is also complete bullshit. I couldn't fake his stutter at all. If you had paid any attention throughout the season you would have noticed that his stutters are a lot more complicated than simply repeating the first letter of a word multiple times. There is a convulsive element to it which would be incredibly difficult for most people to copy.

There are also old videos on his Youtube account which prove he has had his stutter since he was 14. He doesn't need to provide a medical certificate to prove he can stutter because most of the world is full of better people than you.

He can be a bit of a **** at times. He keeps it up and I have no doubt he will get his head detached from his body at some time in his life.

armchair analyst, with pizza and cigars

Firstly, let us not forget that big brother used a definition from the DSM about OCD and bird fears Orna..... or something, for two of the housemate secret questions. I'm playing the same game. Anyone can, and should play the amrchair analyst, it is one of the best lessons you can get out of this show.

If the psychology and psychiatry students of Australia are not watching the series then they are missing out on a lot of good discussion material. Some doctors do watch. I had an angiogram recently, a camera in the artery of your leg, and when it is over a doctor has to press on the wound for a full 10 minutes. We spent the time talking about former Big Brother characters, including one I met selling shoes in a General Pants store, Saxon (Reggie year).

Do you wonder why Bradley is such a high functioning Aspie, like Sheldon, and not all like Rainman?

Bradleys parents have had him in drama, dance, and music classes his whole life. What you might not have because your neurology is different, you can make up for with hard work. You saw Bradley dancing last night on eviction night in a pink tutu, and that move in the air was only the result of some developed skill. But you can only do so much in 18 years, and now Bradley is in the adult world, there is so much more he has to learn about.

Yes I know, your playing a guessing game - which is why I say put a disclaimer up.
Because your stating it as FACT, and there are some really dumb posters your misleading.

Well guessing is about the best you can do as an armchair analyst, but lets say, I have read the DSM Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of mental conditions, and a lot of related academic material about psychology and pychiatry, so I am unlikely to use a term without the intended meaning. But of course you can get it wrong if you don't know enough.

Everything posted on this board is opinion. Do you want disclaimers for not being an expert in sexuality when someone calls someone a slut?

If you look at everything on BBBA about Aspie Brad since the start when myself and others identified behaviours from Bradley which suggested Aspergers Syndrome, you will see the evidence is slowly building.

Now if Bradley and his parents have been working on his development with the knowledge he was born with Aspergers, it doesn't mean Bradley has to share this knowledge with people he meets, but now he is stretching the the edges of what he has been able to learn about non-adult situations, he is fraying.

It might help him improve his public standing and relationships in the house if a neurological explanation is given.

Sheesh, I can see why your obsessed with psych manuals and conditions your not feeling well yourself, OK...........................................

I am going to assume you either work in mental health with your explanation of using the DSM IV, because I do not know of anyone who would sit down with that giant thing for leisure. I personally can see where you come from with the idea that he might have high functioning aspergers, however similar traits are also connected with general shyness and anxiety complexes. In saying that shyness will be included in the revised DSM V when it is released next year as a mood disorder.... WTF.
