One of the side-effects of the loss of Big Brother is the hit Queensland’s economy will take, according to Premier Anna Bligh.
“It’s been very good for the Queensland film and television industry,” she told reporters on Monday.
“The program may not be everybody’s cup of tea, I understand that, but this is an industry that employs thousands of Queenslanders.”
During the three months of production, the BB crew numbers upwards of 300. According to Ms Bligh, Big Brother has employed more than 3000 people and generated $8m for the state over the past eight years.
Meanwhile, Mike Goldman, who apparently hates the publicity shot we used of him on Tuesday, writes on his blog that the crew are busy lining up their next projects – all of which will involve heading out of Queensland.
“Shows my BB crew friends are working next on include The Biggest Loser, I’m a Celebrity Get Me Outta Here for the UK (that I have been working on for five years), Australian Idol, Next Top Model, Make Me a Supermodel, Project Runway and Dancing with the Stars (oh, I’d like to host that), just to name a few.”
Surely they don’t all need to go? Perhaps TEN Brisbane has space for a couple of extra news editors? BB’s Daily Show team could certainly bring some spice to the 5pm bulletin!
