Celebrities hijack BBUK

"Hijackers" named and house revealed for new spin-off series

Counting down to Christmas is a thing of the past - and as for New Year, that’s so last millennium.

No, for BBUK fans this time of year means the countdown to one event - Celebrity Big Brother.

Except this year, well - it kind of got axed!

However - the celebrities are fighting back as they hijack the show for a brand new spin-off, which launches on Thursday 3rd January in the UK.

Celebrity Hijack

Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack will see a number of celebrities become Big Brother - setting tasks for the “young and gifted” housemates and talking to housemates in the diary room.

Little Britain star Matt Lucas heads the celebrity line up, with fellow comedians Joan Rivers and Jimmy Carr also set for a stint as a celebrity hijacker - along with Keith Lemon - aka Avid Merrion - aka Leigh Francis.

Completing the celebrity hijacker line up are art historian Brian Sewell, footballer Ian Wright and artists Jake and Dinos Chapman.

There will also be a competition for a viewer to become a Hijacker via MySpace.

The housemates they will be controlling are all aged 18-21, with the show casting talented athletes, Mensa members, artists, musicians and other prodigies rather than auditioning the usual fame whores. The housemates will be revealed during the live launch show on January 3rd.

The house itself also gets a makeover, with E4’s paintball gun influencing the lounge, the kitchen restored to it’s rightful place - while in an act of genius producers have opted to put the bath in the bath room.

The entrance lobby has also been removed to make a bigger living space, while the diary room chair gets a splash of colour as E4, who will be exclusively broadcasting this series, stamp their signature purple colouring onto the shows identity.

Outgoing BBLB host Dermot O’Leary steps into Davina’s shoes as master of ceremonies for the live shows this series, while comic actors Mathew Horne and James Corden return following a guest presenting stint to take control of Big Brother’s Big Mouth.
