Well done. Cannulas... hmmm. Good luck with that too!
Last time I had cannulas, I had a junior doctor trying to get one into my hand, Fail. She tried again with a different vein. Fail. Finally got one into my other hand. beautiful bruising though. Just as well she left the cauterisation of my nose to the senior registrar.
All the best for the cannulation training. You'll do well.

Yes I had a nurse friend telling me he had witnessed doctors (and some nurses) doing a terrible job with them. Hopefully Lalas will have aced this too before reading this. And if not, um, oops, sorry, good luck! <3

I tell you it was s not as easy as it looks. Veins can be difficult to find and are terribly delicate. The arm we train on is just like the genitals. Perfect vein to access just like the urethral entry is like an open mouth. In reality successfully accessing those places is like finding treasure without a map

I will be guaranteed to butcher people, unfortunately, the rule is 3 shots, if you don't get it in in 3 goes, the next person tries.

If Wayne Brown was still here he would be excitedly squealing that my Iv drug history would make me an ace at cannulating and drawing blood, but sadly I never drove, I always had another hit me up.

I hope I do. I want to make a success of this position so badly. Finished a night shift yesterday and it was the quietest night I have ever done in my life. Sounds good on paper but made that 03:30 - 06:00 timeframe unbearable.

Congratulations on finding a new family member. NoName is lucky to have you. I really hope her health issues are as easy to fix as a course of AB's. Xo

Good Moanin Faux T Thread!

This is my last partnerless week. My partner has one more week of training, then next week he will be onsite. We are spending the weekend in Brisbane to celebrate.

A little secret, I have loved spending this time alone. Just me and the dogs. Men take so much extra work! I have loved the easy dinners, the quiet and having total tv remote control.

I am a bit desperate to have some updates on you guys, so come on, as Mutley would say "what's haps, fanny flaps?!"

As I have 37 years of lovely scar tissue in my arms from regular 16 gauge needles being plunged in there, my veins don't always like the experience of being maneouvered when the needle placement is not spot on. In my right arm especially, the veins are not lying according to plan. This however doesn't stop me from donating plasma fortnightly. This weekend will be #367. Keep practicing, it will become easier. Don't forget though that even the most experienced can still miss. My arms are testament to that.
Yes, there is that awful time frame on nights where, no matter what you do, it's hell for weariness. Doesn't happen all the time, but I hate it when it does.
A friend at work who's good at these sorts of things is putting on a stick for me, seasons 2-current of Scandal, series 5-9 of The Office (US), season 5 of House of Cards, two movies - Three Days of the Condor and All the President's Men and a porn movie he showed me a bit of on whatsapp. It made me laugh so he's adding it to the pile.
I start my three weeks of holidays at 2300 Friday. A week going back and forth from my parents to my place as they'll be in Sydney with my sister and they have Foxtel and it's a house, not a tiny flat, lol, a week catching up with whoever is available for a catch up for the second week and my parents and I will be doing a road trip to Echuca and towns along the way in the third week. Quite probably the last holiday we'll have together like that as travelling for them now is not as easy. I'll do the bulk of the driving as Dad can only do about thirty minutes at a time comfortably and Mum doesn't drive anymore due to glaucoma and macular degeneration in the same eye.
Le Tour de France is on for those three weeks so I will be glued to my tv. Usually I am on nights so watch it at work.
I'm breaking my pbs at the gym with my dead lifting. 65kg and 70kg in one session. I can also lift 35kg one handed. My trainer is rather pleased as am I. Might not sound like much but it's not exactly light in my personal opinion. He wants me to get to 100kg by the end of the year.
Oops, just realised that all of this palaver should've been with the post asking how we're doing.
I understand the enjoyment of being alone in the house. I love living alone. Good that he's enjoying the training though.

Hello peeps!!

I actually do miss the chatter at this place! Still living in hope BB will return one day and the gang will all return to talk shiz!

I am doing very well thank you! As Trala already said, I'm pretty happy with where my life is at the moment... and where it is continuing to head. :)

Absolutely loving my new job, it's not teaching but still helping people and with a whole lot less of the extra stuff on top. Which gives me time to invest into ministry and other things about which I am passionate.

And yeah.... I'm loving my new 4wd sick! Actually going to take it on a road trip up to Rockhampton and back in a couple of weeks time with my mates. Looking forward to the getaway.

How's that little bubba of yours @jessy_girl ?!? Feel free to PM me a pic, would love to see an update! How is the sleep life going lately? Hope it's getting to a good stage :)

@Trala you naughty fairy! I miss chatting with you the mostest! Hope your life is fabulous, neither of us over share on the social pipes but I do like seeing the odd pic every now and then.

I'll have a quick squiz back over the last few pages to catch up. But what is the exam for? Hope your life is better without the toxicity this place used to unfortunately bring. I guess you gotta accept the thorns amongst the roses.

Xxxx

I'm so glad you are loving life, that sounds awesome and well deserved.

Hard to believe (for me at least) but in just a few weeks we officially leave the baby years behind and are classed as a toddler, he is still very much a baby in my eyes though.

Sleep is improving, motherhood suits me with erratic sleep but it's still a mess in general, sometimes he sleeps through the night but other nights he doesn't, he has moved into his own room recently but I think everyone is sleeping worse now!

That's how boring my life is these days, but I'm not complaining!

Oh I get that, I used to think I'd be awesome as a FIFO wife, but long term it might wear thin. I did always love some alone time.

Hmm what's new with me. Well as I just said my baby turns one soon! Madness! I am planning a very low key birthday party. He surprised me at his 12 month check up by being advanced in his fine motor skills and the doctor even said he was clever, not so good with the gross motor skills though and I think he has my lazy genes. However he says a few words already which I love.

Oops sorry that is a boring update! Hopefully someone has a more exciting life than I do.

You're doing what you want to be doing and that's excellent. Baby is thriving, he's happy and he's loved. What a life!

I like during photos! But yes before and after are much more effective!
Well it's been a busy few weeks here. The shack is complete and my builder paid... all that is left is to install the balustrade across the balcony (I need to paint it first), and also to paint the entire interior and what's left of the exterior.

So here are the before and after shots I'll be sending to my dad. The bedroom got shifted from the east to the west side so it's technically not the same room (it kind of looks like I replaced a "window" with a cabinet but I didn't):

I can see Timmy. It's all looking excellent. I like the floor tiles.

Thanks, it'll be great once it's painted. I'm kinda dreading that. Painting will have to start with the ceilings. Ugh. A sofa would be nice, but paint, paint, paint.

There were two things I definitely wanted: genuine Cambodian cement floor tiles, and the raked ceilings in the living room and bedroom. The former to give it character and the latter to make it feel larger and airier (the total internal area is about 50sqm).

What colours for the paint? Stick with the grey/whites or add a splash of colour? Make it pop, as the Americans say.

What colours for the paint?
White ceilings and "snow white" for the walls, which has a bluish tinge, just so keep things cool as it does get stuffy up here. The pops will have to come from the art and cushions. I'll be putting it on the market when I'm done, can't go alienating people.

Thanks, you are completely right actually. I do sometimes facetiously say my life is "boring" but I wouldn't trade it of course.[DOUBLEPOST=1498685076][/DOUBLEPOST]

Did you enjoy Scandal and House of Cards? I have been into American TV featuring some of our own Aussie talent. I loved Season 1 of Gypsy, Big Little Lies was good too. My partner and I are almost finished watching Bloodlines. Also recently finished Billionare which I thought was awesome, oh and Girls is a great one for girls to watch. I am always on the look out for good TV so keep me in your loop.

Was the plan all along to sell? I thought you were gonna live there. I was all set up in my head for you living there!
